While I agree with the Social Security Bill of Rights (no cuts, no privatization, no etc), it's just no no no. Why isn't there something about improvements and reforms to social security - e.g. raising the income caps on social security taxes - I've read that this alone could fully fund social security. Just saying no and what we want in benefits, without talking about what's wrong and needs improvement, will not garner any additional support that we don't already have or gain partnership with other special interest initiatives with the complimentary solutions. I think we actually have lost some influence on issues related to Social Security. The opponents to Social Security have been playing the long game and it seems to be coming to fruition - by delaying, waiting for (or causing) the national debt to drown social security, framing the discussion as entitlement, all leading to the de-fanging the 'third rail' of politics.

As of May 1, 2026, the scores yesterday and today are in the 144,000 range. Someone is gaming the systerm.

Just a tip for other seniors looking for a cheap cell phone service without a lot of bells and whistles. Consumer Cellular offers a plan that "looks" like it's a pay-as-you-go deal. That you pay monthly...no long term contracts...etc, etc.  One might assume if you stop using the service, ie, get hospitalized, become infirm, spend time in rehab, get admitted to a nursing home, pass away...the service is not being used month after month after month...they would just cancel the account. You might think it's a monthly service....paid monthly...not being used...end of account. Right? Wrong.  Just because you're not using the service doesn't mean they stop billing you. They do. Monthly. Even when the poor soul is not using the service. And they will continue to bill you until you cancel the service...by Phone. Or by Live Chat with their Customer Service. Because there is no way to cancel the service on line. There is no "Cancel Service" button. I spent over an hour trying

Is home helpers a legitimate place to get benefits?

Since IRA's and required distributions affect seniors greatly, please outline correctly how to calculate non-spouse inherited single person IRA before 2020. Specifically how is the first factor calculated the first year after the death of a non-spouse who had already started taking out RMD's himself and do you use that very same table that was in effect prior to 2020, or do you have to also somehow use new single beneficiary tables as they occur. Everybody, including brokers are very confused on the minus one calculation in the first place, and how new tables are treated in the 2nd place.     I always assumed that the big financial institution handling my parent's IRA I inherited before 2020 was doing so in the correct way.  Now that I have to do distributions myself on my own IRA's I began to construct an Excel table that would give me hints of my future income year by year (and affect on taxes and my SS IRMA status--yeah, a shocker).  My own IRA RMDs turned o

Is there a way to download the AARP Magazine and AARP Bulletin for offline reading on a computer? I have downloaded them on my smartphone and someday I may actually find where they were downloaded to and what format they were downloaded in (PDF, etc.). If there is a way to download to a computer, is there a way to stop the paper delivery so there would be no need to recycle them? Thanks in advance for any assistance. 🙄

Something has changed recently on the games pages.  Within the last 2 weeks. The bold red banner with AARP on the left is making it hard to see both the top and the bottom of a game screen. I play the games on my laptop, 15 inch screen.  I can slowly scroll up and have the banner move to the top of the screen.  But then I can't see the top line of the game.  As I slowly scroll down, the darn banner comes down again, as well.  It takes ages to get the game showing top and bottom.  Darn nuisance. Can anything be done about this banner line, please?!

I don’t know why AARP endorses United Health Care (UHC). My wife and I joined an AARP endorsed UHC health plan on January 1, 2026.  Without any notice from UHC, they cancelled our Primary Care Physician from their network effective 3/31/2026.  We received no notice of this change, but rather had to find out by going on line and logging into our account.  It was posted there less than 2 weeks from the effective date of the cancelation, just days before the March 31st deadline for changing Medicare Advantage health plans. This interferes with our continuous care and treatment, and requires us to scramble to get medical coverage.  Our PCP also states that UHC refuses to respond as to why they are being removed from the network after being in network for decades. This is just unacceptable.  How can AARP endorse such a company? When I called UHC, they refused to discuss anything related to this change with me. Bill Bettag

Our team is actively working to fix the issue, and we hope to resolve it soon. Thank you for your patience. I've been seeing this message every time I log in for a few weeks now. IS someone "actively working to fix the issue"??? 

Spoiler (Highlight to read)  On 9/29 I was unable to redeem points and used the chat function.  The customer service person was unable to resolve and stated that she would escalate the problem to tech support and I would receive a response within 10 business days. On 10/9 I received an email stating that access would be restored on 10/10.  I was still unable to access on 10/10.  On 10/13 I responded to the 10/9 email stating that access had not been restored and requested a follow-up.  I did not receive a response.  On 10/16 I again used the chat function and was told that I had to go through the person who sent the 10/9 email and did not respond to my follow-up request. It is now 10/19 and I am still unable to redeem points.  Is there any way to contact someone who can fix this problem?

I was not able to see my account info page so I could update my credit card info. I was using Chrome Version 145.0.7632.160. This is a brand new computer with Windows 11 Had to download Firefox and use it. 

AARP will not accept my Google voice phone number as the primary phone number for the rewards program phone number. Please fix this.  I only share my GV phone number publicly.  If AARP cannot accomodate this I'll need to cancel my membership and get a refund on my membership fee. Thanks!
