How can AARP be more present in my community?

 I don't mean by sending me driver safety or insurance information.  Can AARP show up at a local event or host a local event on the weekend:  I still work.

Organize a bike ride or hike?

Connect through hospitals for informational classes like healthy eating?

      The local/state office is an hour away. The only feasible time to visit would be on a Saturday or Sunday….when they are closed.

        I have a few times, but don’t recall receiving any responses.  I have begun to receive flyers in the mail, though, for safe driving courses, volunteering for safe driving courses, and something for an Ann Arbor event.  The most recent email I’ve received for pickleball, but it came only days before the event occurred.

          ​​@JannetB452770 , maybe stop by your "local or state" AARP if they are within traveling distance for you. Sometimes they may NOT have "enough" staff to answer phones or emails.

          ​@Vexed , I am maybe wrong, but I believe any member/members can start one. Of course member would have to contact the AARP for their state. For example, here in Virginia - the REAL AARP office is in Richmond. The OTHERS are "chapters" in other cities. Maybe AARP Teri or AARP Sandy will reply. Excellent question. Nicole!

              Hi @JannetB452770  Check the local events tab.  You can choose local events in your area.  Also you can contact your local AARP chapter for your area and connect with them that way.

               

              Can also click on AARP In Your City from the bottom of AARPs website footer.
