AARP Help

Others have commented how bad Avis is but I just searched for a car for an upcoming trip to Palm Springs, CA using the AARP discount.  The lowest rate was about $100 more than the rate I got using Orbitz.  I would suggest that anyone needing a car rental use Orbitz and not waste their time trying to find a car from Avis using the (useless) AARP discount.

I rented a car from Avis using an AARP discount and prepaid for the reservation. When I arrived at my destination, AVIS had NO cars available. After waiting an hour for a car, we gave up. We were told we had 24 hours from the time of our reservation to pick up a car. We paid Lyft $25 for a ride to hotel.The next morning, much less than 24 hours from our reservation time, we returned to the airport. Again, Avis had no cars. They told us it would be at least an hour before any were available. After waiting for a long time, I went over to the National counter, rented a car from them, and left. I then canceled my prepaid reservation. I received a notice that my $373 payment would not be refunded because I had not canceled it timely. I spent an inordinate time on the phone with customer service, and was finally told my payment would be refunded. I received an e-mail saying the refund to my credit card would be made within 3-5 working days. More time than that has passed and as of today

Just curious about my free gifts that i have'nt recieved yet for joining AARP..

The link for the discount at Walmart plus (on the AARP website) is broken / dead.  It does not take me anywhere, and Walmart cannot honor the discount without this.

I took the quiz 450 points not received for Medicare Open Enrollment. System says I did but no points and I  cannot get the $5 gc for Omaha Steaks. 

Every time I try to use REWARDS to get gift cards, I’m an either kicked off the site or transferred to a different are of the site to PURCHASE cards with my personal funds.   I’m feeling like this is all a scam.  If the only thing you can do with rewards is “spin” only to be told you didn’t win anything, what is the point of rewards if only to get you to a page to buy gift cards instead?  I’m concerned that once I hit “create” this question will either disappear or show only AARP generated answers. Thank you.

I don’t care if aarp bans me it’s not worth it. I got the points I needed for a gift card and I can’t redeem it because I’ve read apparently they lock it for suspicious activity like accumulating too many points too fast but their point limit is 7,500 so it doesn’t make sense for them to lock my account to prevent me from redeeming points. Aarp is a scam and won’t be renewing my account and will make sure others know about it if they want to make an account. It’s a waste of time and their customer service is slow and they don’t care so I don’t care either. Delete

I keep getting the "Unable to process your redemption request" error when I try to redeem my points. It has been just for today. I’ve tried with Chrome and Edge - no luck - well , bad luck haa haa I need a shoulder shrug emoji here.Thanks for reading this

All of a sudden I have been getting vulgar titled emails. I have been sending ATT block messages and started getting more. I have not history on my computer or phone for any browsing that is even remotely connected to sex. I am concerned that it is a scam avenue. It also is adding up to alot of time daily blocking these.Amy suggestions as to what agency I can contact that is trust worthy to help?  I have been an ATt customer for years, but I am thinking of switching to get away from the slutting emails.

[Tuesday 9/22/26 3pm ET]Lol, thought I had SUBSCRIBED to your "Grief & Loss Forum" so I know when someone posts in it when I am OFFLINE. Have NOT been getting any "notifications" for THIS FORUM of late.(1) I just REdid my subscription hoping I will get "notified" (via email) moving forward. 🤞(2) AARP Darryl had "mentioned" in one of his posts about "changing" OUR SUBSCRIPTIONS to what we want. Remember when you guys 1st setup the NEW SITE, we were ALL "automatically" subscribed to ANY topic we "responded" to. I had "shutoff" this OPTION in my SETTINGS as my IN BOX was full of emails I really DIDNOT want.➡️[*** Lol, finally found my SUBSCRIPTIONS TAB just now. And yes, it has stuff in it I have NO interest in. How do I remove UNWANTED SUBSCRIPTIONS?(3) I am now wondering IF my doing this (see #2), has affected getting the notifications I DO WANT (only for your Grief & Loss Forum)?(4) Is this "fixable"?Thanks,Nicole 🤗💛

Just about the only membership benefit that I take advantage of is the information (sometimes useful!) in the online magazine and bulletin. I tried the iOS app and found it wanting (and a space-hog).  I need to be able to “clip” the articles that are important to me and couldn’t do that in the app.  It’s my understanding that it USED to be possible to save the publications as PDFs from the website and that feature is now gone?  If so - bring it back, please.Also - the main reason I’m posting - I will NEVER remember to log back into the website to read each new issue.  Can we please sign up for email notification of new issues?

I received dozens of AARP renewal letters in the last year or so, often promoting a soon-to-expire special rate that is it special and isn't expiring. I generally support what AARP does, but i'm not renewing because I don't support this manipulative, annoying marketing.

I recently spent three hours completing the driver safety course and I’m unable to download my certificate because AARP claims they have no record of my drivers license number. How. Do I get my certificate so I can report completion to my insurance company?

Our AARP United Health supplemental insurance premium has increased 44% since June of 2024.  That is crazy.  Are you doing anything to lobby congress about the cost of health insurance??????

A “Processing” progress dialogue is blocking my credit card’s OTP verification window and I couldn’t input the OTP I got from my text when attempting to purchase a gift card. Is this a known issue? Is there a fix to this?I tried using Chrome on PC, Chrome on Mac, and the AARP iphone app. All displayed the same issue.

I purchased a Petsmart gift card at a reduced price yesterday.  I received the email with the egift within approximately 15 minutes of purchase, however, I can’t access the gift card.  When I click the email to get the card details it redirects to blinksky.com.  I’ve never seen this before and tried to obtain the gift card number but this link just keeps “thinking” and states “digital card activation pending” and “transaction in review, please wait”I made the purchase at 8:30pm on 09/20/2026 and still haven’t been able to access the gift card. 😡

i was being overbilled by $10.00 per month. Customer service stated that “only the prepay or the AARP discount can be applied, not both…”From Tracfone’s web site (emphasis mine):“$10/mo discount on Tracfone Home Internet available to active AARP members with valid membership verification. Discount applies to one Tracfone account per AARP membership; multiple Home Internet lines within the same account are eligible. Discount not available at Target and cannot be combined with Target pricing, but may be combined with Auto-Refill discounts. Offer ends if eligibility requirements are not met. Additional terms may apply.”After this was pointed out to the agent he gave me the correct billing amount… but the online system still does not show the discount. I will see if I am billed properly next month. 

I want to delete my account

Just wanted to share some info I got today.I am shopping for identity theft services. The AARP website advertises LifeLock discounts of "up to 44%". I just got information directly from LifeLock earlier today (September 20, 2026 at about 4pm CDT) and the prices I was quoted reflect only "up to 36% discount" from standard prices. AARP: Please update the website to improve its accuracy of information for other future AARP website users. Still showing 44% is very misleading.Michael L.
