It was probably in 2019 that I posted a link under “Old People Dancing” to the first video below. Well, Swing and ChaCha with Angie Major, recorded February 10, 2024, have been added to my YouTube account. While i usually enjoy most of the articles in AARP, "One Day Home Fixes" was a little disingenuous and could actually be dangerous for some people if they took the advice.Jonathan and Drew may be experts in their line of work but to make suggestions based on their parents' situation and apply it to the general population is unwise at best.They would have been better off consulting with a Certified Aging in Place ( CAPS ) specialist, or an Occupational Therapist experienced in home modification. 

     Most folks I know give out Halloween candy that they like, in hopes of having leftovers!  I know I do!As a kid I loved Smarties, Snickers and Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups. I like giving out full bars, because you see and hear the joy from the kids. It’s once a year, and fun.  The neighborhood I’m in is near a school, so getting almost 200 Trick-orTreaters is common here!  I like getting the Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups at Sam’s Club, since they have the larger quantities.  Any favorite candies?  

I retired three months ago after a 40‑year career as a lawyer. At first I really enjoyed my retired life, but now it is exactly the opposite; I don’t know what to do. There are so many things and options, but I can’t figure out what would be best for me to do other than sit in front of the TV all day

 Just read that Season 6 of the PBS Masterpiece series, All Creatures Great and Small, will be airing in early 2026.  Such a relaxing series, and in an absolutely amazing setting.  So well done, but I think most things by PBS tend to be in my opinion.  I’m really looking forward to this new season.  The trials and tribulations, laughter and tears of James Herriot’s beloved veterinary stories have been a childhood favorite of mine.   PBS Series - All Creatures Great and Small - Season 6  

 As in Musicals, plays, lectures, operas, singers, etc…      I’ve enjoyed Food Network’s, Alton Brown’s stage shows every year for a while.  He makes cooking and science fun!  Always interesting and amusing at the same time! My favorite musical was CATS, which I saw many years ago.I like supporting community theater as well, and our area has a wonderful one at decent prices for their productions.  I’ve seen several plays that I’ve enjoyed there.

I would like to start a sports conversation forum. I am a big Dallas Cowboy fan would like to talk football with others .

Jimmy Kimmel lost his life long friend Cleto the other day. Instead of his standard monologue, he remembered his friend.  Intermittently unable to hold back tears, he brought tears (and laughs) to my eyes as he reviewed the life long friendship he had had with Cleto since age 9. Chronologically revisiting their life together as children, teenagers, and men was one of the most heartfelt eulogies I had ever heard.  Cleto, as a younger man, became somewhat famous regionally as a saxophonist but when Kimmel became nationally famous, he begged the producers to hire his friend as the band leader. They hired him. They even hired Cleto's dad who still is in the Kimmel show's band.  Cleto died young at age 59 and must've been sick because Kimmel thanked a long list of caregivers at the end of the monologue honoring his friend.

     I’d like to play several aluminum disc recordings that have been passed down.  They are quite dear to us as they contain a family member singing.  I believe these were recorded in one of those old record-your-voice booths, I think.   I remember as a child, someone trying to play it on a traditional record player with not much luck.  I’ve heard that it can wreck those needles, so don’t want to try. Anyone know of a way to do this, or a way to transfer the recordings professionally by a company.  Thanks!

The Demon of UnawarenessWhile I was waiting to have my bi-weekly blood drawn at the diagnostic lab, I saw for the first time two framed photographic copies of Oahu mountain ridges on the wall to my left.  One of these renditions was realistic; the other one was surrealistic. Regardless of how I related to them, what struck me the most was that I had never noticed the landscapes until today. What a revelation! Most of the time, I pride myself on how much I enjoy art in all of its incarnations, whether it be displayed in a museum or a flea market.From now on, I will prod myself to be more observant of my environment. Who knows what  ah-ah moments that I might appreciate, if not revel in. Despite the horror of it all, I envy Linda Blair’s uncanny ability to simultaneously have grisly 360 degree perspectives at the end of The Exorcist. Or, to be less graphic, you can’t be a fly on the wall unless you can see the wall.

She will be missed.  She was a great actress IMO - could play many different roles - loved her in many of them.  My favorites were POMS and The Family Stone. People.com - Diane Keaton, Famed for Roles in“ Father of the Bride”, “First Wives Club” and More, Dies at 79  

I read that the states that have legalized the recreational use of marijuana have used the taxes from such sale for all kinds of public good - From building schools to social inequities.   So I am wondering what good have you seen from these taxes?  Have they helped you directly or indirectly.  Have they reduced any of your taxes or supplied you with needed [whatever] needed benefits? They are collecting BILLIONS.  I just want to know if you see of any indication of where these newly added taxes are going.Thanks to any and all that may want to share.
