 I'm currently an unemployed highly skilled professional with a background in manufacturing supply chain.  I recently had a job I loved at a start-up company, and was hoping to work there until I retired, but as start-ups go, they are VERY unpredictable. Their business model changed and I was laid off.  I've been working part-time at another startup, but again, this place used up all its Series A funding and are waiting on, supplemental funds so I've been out of work for 2 months.   My husband, who IS working was recently diagnosed with early stage Parkinsons.  His medication is finally adjusted to where he's pretty much his old self for 90% of the time.  However, when he gets home from work, he's completely spent.  Which means I literally do EVERYTHING around the house.  (Because of traffic, his commute is pretty long)  (Positions within some startups are very flexible, so I could work and still manage the house) I'm afraid i

Did not get what I thought.  Had an electrical issue that was urgent and told their "chosen" vendor had no appointments for one week.   I am not renewing my coverage and urge all considering it to get full details as to response time.  Lots of rhetoric about language in the agreement that you dont see in their ads and AARP promoting tthem

Clorox has made a blunder comparable to the "New Coke" debacle: The company went "all in" with their commitment to a new spray bottle design that is featured on virtually every one of their spray cleaning products.  The sprayer on this bottle must be lined up with the integral tube that delivers the product right until the bottle is just about dry.  The problem is, this lining up means the top cannot be screwed into the bottle.  It snaps, very, very weakly, into the bottle, allowing it to sink its tube top into the bottle's integral tube, built into the side of the bottle.  On major complaint sites, this system is attacked en masse. On the government consumer complaint site, it receives one out of five stars.  Be very careful if you are unfortunate enough to have this terribly designed bottle in your home/under your kitchen sink.  I was using the bleach spray and it popped right off the bottle, splashing bleach everywhere!  I have since found that oth

     While I haven’t really been into this Fourth this year, as I’m not feeling it with all that’s going on that I think the founders would be appalled to see.  I would like to wish everyone a happy and safe holiday.  Watching fireworks since I was a kid has been my favorite.  I do plan on doing that at least.  Just don’t have the same joy this year.       It feels odd not feeling that pride today of all days..  Anyone else have a blah-like feeling this year?  I’d like to get out of that funk about it, but haven’t been able to shake it.

It has been a very long time since I thought of them but did when I happen to take the City Bus here in Virginia. Usually I AVOID anything to do with the City Bus, but the OTHER Old Lady (2006 Hyundai Elantra) needs a LOW MILEAGE engine. I am on my mechanic's Things To Do List. The bus is a VERY LONG ride from my side of town & I took it to the downtown Walmart. To my pleasure, it circled through the HUGE MALL before stopping at Walmart. It was a "mixture" of sadness & memories as we rode by the HUGE "empty" SEARS building. I remember as a "child" my parents ORDERING from the Sears CATALOG. And me totally "fascinated" with the HUGE catalog = lots of stuff to dream about getting. Then as a teen, I had a job at the Sears in St. Louis, Missouri and had my 1st car serviced at their Auto Center. I am surprised the building here is standing empty. I would have thought another "retailer" would have taken over. Nicole!

I never thought I could hurt like this.  I'm 76 this year, male, and I live in the back of my sister's home, 1600 miles from where I used to live.  Two years ago, my soon to be ex-wife asked for a separation and then a year ago, a divorce. We'd been married for 51 years, raised three kids together, and now Boom, it's over.I don't know how to begin again.  In the last 4 years, I've had two heart attacks, skin cancer, and am being treated for depression and anxiety.  Money is a constant worry since she's fighting to keep it all.  I really don't know where to begin?

I am a senior and live alone. I am wanting to explore the pen pal program. I think it would be a way to stay social. Because of hand contractures it's difficult for me to write cursive but I can use email, text, messenger no problem. Wondering if there are pen pals who use these systems.I am a retired Disability Law Advocate.

 Howdy - I'm new as a member. Love the Book Lists and would like to get my memoir about caregiving and my wife's battle with terminal brain cancer called "Lucy's Biggest To Fry" along with my debut fiction novel called "The Accidental Player" listed. The Accidental Player follows a newly-minted widower in his late fifties as he stumbles into a singles world he never imagined. His behavior puts his relationship with his daughter at risk. It's based on some of my experiences after my wife died. 

AARP is a very comprehensive web site. Often times it is recommended for seniors to connect. I believe I am in Community right now. Think I went to front porch. Not sure. Can someone help me sort this all out. There is so much here to look at but I just want to get to the normal conversations between members. I am in "Our Front Porch" . Just saw that.
