Recently I received a letter signed by S.F. Miles (Senior Vice President, Membership) offering membership in AARP with a birthday discount of up to 45%. But none of the 3 subscription choices offered includes a 45% discount. Eiehter Ms Miles' is trying to trick people whose math skills have diminished, or she didn't bother to check her own math skills. The choices offered are:#1 1 year for $20 discounted to $15 (that's a 25% discount)#2 3 years for $55 discounted to $38 (that's a 31% discount)#3 5 years for $79 discounted to $55 (that's only a 30% discount). It looks to me like Ms Miles blew the math on choice #3. Not only is it a lesser discount than choice #2 even thought it's a longer period, it also looks like she wrote down the rate multiplier (55%) rather than the answer ($79 x 55% = $43.45). It looks to me like AARP owes anyone that signed up for the 5 year option for $55 a refund of $11.55.
I was playing some games today to gain points, and realized that I was being awarded points as if I were not a member, even though my membership doesn't expire for 2 days. It is evening, so I can't contact customer service until tomorrow. This happened to me before. Has this happened to other people?
My AARP membership card says my membership expires on 7/31/26 - so on 7/30/26 I should still be awarded rewards points as a member. But even though games and videos and quizzes showed the correct amount of points for a member before I played, after I played I was awarded points as a non-member. For example, a quiz that awards 450 points for a member showed that many points before I played - but I received 300 points. For a video that awards 300 points for a member, I received 200 points. I have been debating whether to renew my membership, given all the glitches experienced with the rewards program on a regular basis. This seems to be another. The rewards program was my primary reason for being an AARP member, but I'm less and less inclined to renew given all the ongoing problems. Isn't the expiration supposed to start at 11:59pm on the expiration date on your membership card?
Update - I found that the device came fully charged, and it didn't need to be charged up. __________________Has anyone else received the Power Bank as the free membership gift - and did you get it working? Mine does not work. The red light never comes on to indicate that it's charging. The instructions are no help. Wondering if any of you out there have gotten this to work successfully? I have tried Googling, calling AARP, and chatting with them. No one has any information on this particular item. Thanks for any tips you can offer!
My plan was $19 + 5 for unlimited talk and text. My sister had the same plan and had she not checked their plans we would never had known our plans were obsoleted months ago and replaced with a lower cost plan ($19) with more data. No notification to anyone still paying more on a plan that no longer exists. CC told me they had no way to notify those paying more. I'll bet they have a way to notify everyone if the price goes up. Plus they told me they had no way of telling me how many months I was paying $5 more than I should have. They acted as though they were doing me a favor by refunding $5 for the month I called. Check your plans! AARP was aware of this but they didn't tell me of any notifications to it's members.
I've been paying for multi-year memberships to AARP, and last took a 5 year special. Yet, I keep getting ENDLESS requests to signup for automatic annual enrollment - even though my current end date is in 2033 !! Enough already! I rarely if ever want to sign up for automatic annual enrollments (anywhere), I want to choose, and I can often get better price by doing a multi-year signup. I should be able to choose to be removed from continuous nags, and really shouldn't be contacted about memberships when I'm paid 7 years into the future.
AARP constantly sending renewal mail is a pain and very wasteful! I have until12/31, and for you to continue to send out reminders is just ridiculous! Just stop it!
My wife is the second person on my account, to login to the app does she use my credentials or create her own?
Will you stop... now I remember why I cancelled my last membership. You bombard people with your never ending junkmail and email spam. Stop it!
I'm at my wits end on this. I followed the AARP link to get the Walmart+ discount. I tried with an existing account and a new account. I tried 7 times on 3 different browsers and 3 different payment options. Each time, Walmart processed the payment and then a dialog came up saying my account can't be created right now. The charge hit my credit card and was immediately reversed. My account info between AARP and Walmart match. My credit card company thought I was a victim of fraud. I'm super frustrated with both AARP and Walmart for this. I would like to get a discount but my time has value. I shouldn't have to spend hours trying to get a $40 annual discount. Please don't just post the link and tell me to use it. I don't recall ever having Walmart+ before and as I said, I tried once with a brand new Walmart account. Same result. Will Walmart apply the discount if I call?
Went to this link in Firefox for membership. I was unable to join for $50 5-year plan. CHAT on this page told me to call 800-687-2277 for membership assistance. This number only provides a medical device. Is this link a valid AARP link for membership??https://appsec.aarp.org/mem/join?gad_source=1&gad_campaignid=23725818718&gclid=EAIaIQobChMImMbV1bullQMVmDcIBR1cdhp3EAAYASAAEgIubPD_BwE&tc_tm_xg=sbmemaarppros&tc_campaign=SBMEMAARPPROS&nl=mb&tc_channel=paidsearch&tc_vendor=google&cmp=PDSXLGY6JP1DP&campaignid=UBTPGBMY2
I read the AARP magazine and bulletin online. When I received the june 2026 email notifying me that there were new ones available, I tried to log in and read them. However, I was in Singapore and you have set up your website to not allow access from there. That doesn't seem reasonable - why would you do that?
It appears that the charging port was not populated. When you plug in the charging cord it does not appear to do anything and when you look at the receptacle it is only a plastic hole with no electrical contacts. Of course the charging light does not come on.
I just received an email with the request - "One optional step many members forget is turning on Automatic Renewal. It helps make sure your membership renews on time, without extra reminders or last‑minute steps." -- My membership is currently active till 4/30/2033 - almost 7 years into the future. I had almost 2 years left when I accepted an offer to extend membership 5 years at a reduced rate, which I've done before. Why oh why do we need to be, harassed with renewal requests or requests that we take automatic renewal when we have a subscription far into the future, or even over a year into the future? That is extremely annoying to receive over and over again. We get barraged by too much email (not just AARP), without being reminded about a non-problem, right? And as a former programmer, it seems like some simple rules could be employed to not send renewal type notices to people with a subscription significantly into the future. --
I enjoy playing AARP games but anymore too much time is wasted on long playing advertisements. I do not like waiting 5, 10 or more minutes while an ad I am not interested in plays.. I used to be able to skip ad, but now the wheel that spins for free coins covers up the skip ad. Very disgusted.
I have tried many times to get Hartford Insurance to ship me the free gift that was promised for getting an auto quote but haven't been successful in getting them to meet their commitment. This is extremely disappointing. I am being given the runaround by their reps.
I received an email today that was in my spam but I believe it is valid, discussing AARP lawsuit for members who are on Facebook and accessed AARP videos. Look in your spam, maybe you are getting this email as well.Comes from Markels et al v. AARP Settlement Administrator --there is a lot more to this email, I am just including the first part in case you need to investigate further. Dear Class Member:A Settlement has been reached with AARP in a class action lawsuit alleging that AARP violated the Video Privacy Protection Act (“VPPA”) by disclosing the identities and aarp.org video-viewing activity of certain members and registered users of aarp.org without lawful consent. The lawsuit contends that AARP transmitted this information to Meta Platforms, Inc. (“Meta”)— the owner of Facebook—through use of a tool called the Meta Pixel. AARP denies all of the allegations made in the lawsuit, denies that it violated the VPPA, and denies that AARP did anythi
i am unable to add the membership card to Wallet after renewal. I deleted/removed the expired card in Wallet which said expired for the prior year membership. Now when I try to add from the App or the link, it doesn't do anything - the card is not added to Wallet. How can this issue be fixed? Thank you in advance for any help.
I received a letter today from AARP - "Over the past few weeks we've been reminding you to restore your AARP membership. You still have not responded and now our records indicate that your membership has expired". They provided me with my membership number. Problem is I have not received any reminders. Further problem is I renewed my membership on April 29. I received an email thanking me for renewing my membership. This was a day before it was set to expire. Same membership number that was on my expired membership letter. What gives - are they trying to make me think that I did not renew just to get more money. This is frustrating.
I have never saw anything on AARP if there are any discounts for this hotel. I plan to stay at one in Tampa FL soon but I see their reviews are not very good. Has anyone ever stayed there? The one I am looking at is on Anderson Road in Tampa.
I used my Barclay reward points to renew AARP membership. They took the rewards points and never renewed my membership. I got the code and did everything it said. It never showed up as renewed.I did chat with AARP and the person asked for my mailing address. I gave it. I typed it in correct, I should know my own address. She asked for it again. I just gave it to her. She says, Ma'am, can you type it in again. I give up. At this point, I've been a member for quite a few years. I think both sites purposely do not work in order to make you call. I'm not calling or renewing at this point. I just lose my reward points. Good day
Can anyone can help connect me with contacts for our AARP Driver Safety courses in West Tennessee, including the Memphis area and surrounding counties? Additionally, I would appreciate any guidance on where I can obtain a copy of AARP’s nonprofit bylaws, as I would like to review them as part of my interest in volunteering. A link for either would be great 🙂
I have entered my new email address on the Account Details page. The verification email arrived, however the verification link in it returns me to the Account Details page, but does not complete loading it. All I get is the spinning circle. I have tried the Bot's suggestions (clear cookies, etc) to no avail. I have also tried a different browser; my default is Firefox, but I tried Edge, too. Any other suggestions?
Hello everyone,I’m an AARP member in Tennessee and I’m hoping someone here may be able to help or share their experience.I have been trying for some time to obtain a copy of AARP Tennessee’s bylaws or any Tennessee‑specific AARP governance document. I’ve made multiple requests directly to AARP Tennessee, but so far those attempts have not resulted in receiving a copy, nor a clear explanation of whether such bylaws exist or whether Tennessee operates solely under national AARP bylaws.I’ve also searched publicly available sources and have not been able to find any Tennessee‑specific AARP bylaws posted online.I’m not looking for anything sensitive — just the basic governing rules that explain how AARP Tennessee is structured, how decisions are made at the state level, and how members fit into that structure. For a membership organization that does important advocacy work, this seems like reasonable information for AARP members to understand. So I wanted to ask this community:Has anyone her
