Terri — Please Explain What These Leaderboard Points Are

I have tried, but cannot get this to be answered.

Terri, please explain what these “Leaderboard Points“ for Posts are for? Do they get added to our Reward points, that we use for Gift cards? Are they supposed to make us feel like we are competing against each other? What are they and Why?

please for the love of God, let me ask this and get a public answer so we all can know. please and thank you.

I’ve always thought that was just for friendly competition. I don’t think it has anything to do with points. I never make the leaderboards but it is fun when I beat my own personal bests.😊

@SereneSeagull , I wanted to AARP Private Message (PM) you this, but I remember you posting that you DONOT have this tool. So here goes. Be very careful. This is the 3rd time you are posting this. They deleted the other 2. I had "responded" to your 1st one with what I "think" is the reason for the points. Lastly, another member told me they were suspended from using the Community Board for 3 months. They also have in their GUIDELINES, not to "repost" what they have "deleted". I would WALK AWAY from getting an "answer" from AARP. Take care, Nicole 😉

@SereneSeagull , why did AARP "delete" your PREVIOUS two questions about the points, but left this one up?

(1) Your 1st question was a NEW THREAD. I had responded that I "think" you get points for posting & getting likes (use to be kudos) on the MAIN LEADERBOARD. I also said I noticed a 2nd Leader board within "discussions" called MOST HELPFUL MEMBERS. I ended with saying CONGRATS for your thousand plus points. 👍🎉💃🙃

(2) Your 2nd time asking about the points was within one of AARP Teri's many discussions on this NEW SITE.

(3) Lol, I "think" AARP Sandy had a change of heart & didnot delete your 3rd time (this thread) of asking. 😂 Anyway, take care & HAPPY Saturday everyone. Nicole!

Leaderboard Points reflect activity and participation within the Online Community, such as posting and engaging in conversations. They are part of the community experience and are intended to recognize participation—not to affect your AARP Rewards account.

So it’s to recognize participation. To add to the activity here.

So by placing it in a leader board format for the most posts made, and assigning a place value and award medals to each, don’t you think this could cause a competitive feel to posting in the community, instead of a friendly approach to posting? I don’t want to have a number assigned on a leaderboard against my fellow community members, it’s not neighborly to me. In fact, it’s as I tried to express before, rather Pavlovian to me, (although as you’ve explained it’s not tied to reward points at least), as well as spiteful to our fellow community members here.

While I understand you want and need more participation, causing a sense of competition among us, in my opinion, is misplaced, and misguided, even if the reasoning is to encourage participation.

Anyone who posts and gives thumbs up now gets ranked on a leaderboard as if it’s a competition. I don’t think it’s right. Thank you for answering.
