Here's how I successfully resolved the interrelated problem with The Hartford raising the insurance premium dramatically for my auto insurance even though I have an excellent driving history, and AARP acting helpless to leverage the matter with its business partner (i.e., The Hartford) ... I recently dropped The Hartford at renewal time in favor of a different carrier (Progressive) and, in the process, save substantial money. I subsequently called AARP and cancelled my membership and will be receiving a prorated refund of my five-year membership payment (more savings for me). If more people took this approach and there was a decrease in membership, perhaps AARP leadership would redirect its energies to be more member centric? It seems that AARP has lost its way helping members in favor of income from royalties paid by business partnerships.
when i called UHC because they did not list the price for next year, the supervisor me next year would be 191.50 ans i was currently paying 97.50. after the call i remembered that is not what i am paying. UHC is billing me 165.40. i canned a support supervisor again and he agreed i should be paying 97.50 and attempted to contact billing on my behalf. However there was a technical issue reaching billing. after logging into the medicare page it confirmed i should be paying 97.50. after reaching someone in billing they told me that the 165.40 was the correct amount i tried to get them to look further but they insisted i call Medicare. After calling medicare they could not understand why UHC would have me call medicare. Medicare after hearing the billing issue wanted to open and investigation. I am now awaiting their investigation.. With the price nearly doubling i decided to look at other options. It appears i and get similar coverage from Humana for about 50% less then UHC for close to th
I had a reservation for 11/1/26. motel6 billed my account 10/28/26. Five days before I was due to arrive. I had to cancel 10/31/26 before 6:00 PM and they wanted $70.00 in spite of what their website said! I talked to 8 different people and two of them twice and everyone wanted $70.00! Playing pass the Doug(me) seemed to be a game with customer service. I am filing a complaint with Las Vegas DA to get my money back. I do not know of any hotel/motel that bills your account before you arrive. AARP should not advertise on motel6 site! Thieves, flim-flam, and con people!

They are raising my United Heathcare RX insurance with a $300 deductible and now 30% of cost, so my first purchase for my COPD inhaler will cost me $630 for my first 30 day supply and $330 copay every month after. I also had an increase in my monthly payment for United Heathcare RX insurance. $165 to $238. So my January cost will TOTAL $865, for a 30 day script. One more note, United Healthcare does not cover generic COPD inhalers, why are they able to get away with all this.…Come January 1, 2027United Heathcare RX insurance. $165 to $238, that’s plus $73.United Heathcare Supplement ins. $378 to $404, that’s plus $26That’s $99 a month more ($1188 for year)THAT $90 CHECK IS REALLY HELPING, WHAT A JOKE!!
I purchased 2 gift cards yesterday, one for Papa Johns and the other for LL Bean... And I have received NOTHING from AARP. Today their Rewards site is down for "maintenance". Is this the best they can do?
Just wanted to share some info I got today.I am shopping for identity theft services. The AARP website advertises LifeLock discounts of "up to 44%". I just got information directly from LifeLock earlier today (September 20, 2026 at about 4pm CDT) and the prices I was quoted reflect only "up to 36% discount" from standard prices. AARP: Please update the website to improve its accuracy of information for other future AARP website users. Still showing 44% is very misleading.Michael L.
Walmart has been touting their new partnership with Sam’s Club plus as a way for Walmart+ members to receive additional savings. I hoped to take advantage of this (we need all the help we can get) but found out they will not honor the $40 AARP discount for the Walmart+ membership I have. They will revert and prorate the cost of my current Walmart+ membership eliminating the discount and then add on the extra for Sam’s Club Plus. Renewal will be at the full $120 - no discount. Why isn’t AARP stepping up for us? These are 2 separate memberships and the discount should be honored. Instead I am being asked to pay more. Not what I call savings.
We took the AARP drivers training class in Feb 2026 and it has always been good for 3 years towards insurance discount. I get an email from AARP once a month telling me my program needs to be taken again because it is running out. I called AARP once and told them about the emails but it still goes on. Why do I have to get 2-3 years of emails from AARP on a program that is still valid? Ron
Hello, I would like AARP to reconsider using AARP for you members to use. I was happy with them for 5 years then all of a sudden, my premium went up $600+ for the year. I thought Hartford was supposed to benefit seniors. I was with them for 5 years, perfect driving record, no tickets and a stellar credit score. They couldn't give me a reason why it went up so much and even the agent I spoke to said it was a substantial increase.I found it unacceptable and dropped them.AARP might want to reconsider their relationship with Hartford if they are doing that you your members. Feel free to reach out to me if you'd like more information.Thank you
Either Denny's has a 15% discount or they don't. Enough with the marketing games. Why should seniors be expected to read the fine print on the Denny's website to finagle a discount widely promoted online and on the AARP site as well? AARP should remove Denny's from the advertised discounts. Recently I had lunch at a Salem, Va Denny's. Bill was $23. Discount was $1.23, hardly a 15% discount. Seniors are a big part of their customer base. It is inexcusable that they are attracting folks based on sneaky promotions and using AARP to do so.
2027 CHANGES TO AARPUHC WA-14:$0 PREAIUM TO $35 $55 SPECIALIST VISIT TO $70 $6700 OOP to $7150 $550 Inpatient Hosp Stay to $685 And other increases that will eat up our COLA & moreGot to be a Medicare Advantage policy better & worth AARP’s backing
Denneys restaurant is no longer honoring the 15% Aarp discount for orders on the value menu. As a matter of fact they are not honoring any discount coupons on the value menu items.I am done with Denneys! They sent me a 20% discount coupon in the app. I invited my 84 yr old mother to enjoy 2 super slams only to find out the discount would only be applied to the coffee.
I prepaid for a rental in DEN for a week and one day. I ended up returning the car one day early but the charge for the extra day was still on my receipt. I asked AARP/Expedia to refund me for the unused day but they refused. Plus when I called and asked to speak to a supervisor they left me on hold for over 30 minutes. Finally, I had to hang up. No satisfaction.
Chart House Restaurant is closed. Dennys in Toms River NJ is closed and there are no Denny’s anywhere near 07417 zip code.
Why do all the classes take place during working hours? And if they have to take place then, how can one access them after the fact? Are they recorded? Can they be streamed? If AARP is for people 50 and over, what makes you think the large majority of them are retired? Even though I am 73, I still work full-time. I am sure I am not alone in this.
Others have commented how bad Avis is but I just searched for a car for an upcoming trip to Palm Springs, CA using the AARP discount. The lowest rate was about $100 more than the rate I got using Orbitz. I would suggest that anyone needing a car rental use Orbitz and not waste their time trying to find a car from Avis using the (useless) AARP discount.
I rented a car from Avis using an AARP discount and prepaid for the reservation. When I arrived at my destination, AVIS had NO cars available. After waiting an hour for a car, we gave up. We were told we had 24 hours from the time of our reservation to pick up a car. We paid Lyft $25 for a ride to hotel. The next morning, much less than 24 hours from our reservation time, we returned to the airport. Again, Avis had no cars. They told us it would be at least an hour before any were available. After waiting for a long time, I went over to the National counter, rented a car from them, and left. I then canceled my prepaid reservation. I received a notice that my $373 payment would not be refunded because I had not canceled it timely. I spent an inordinate time on the phone with customer service, and was finally told my payment would be refunded. I received an e-mail saying the refund to my credit card would be made within 3-5 working days. More time than that has passed and as of today
Our AARP United Health supplemental insurance premium has increased 44% since June of 2024. That is crazy. Are you doing anything to lobby congress about the cost of health insurance??????
i was being overbilled by $10.00 per month. Customer service stated that “only the prepay or the AARP discount can be applied, not both…”From Tracfone’s web site (emphasis mine):“$10/mo discount on Tracfone Home Internet available to active AARP members with valid membership verification. Discount applies to one Tracfone account per AARP membership; multiple Home Internet lines within the same account are eligible. Discount not available at Target and cannot be combined with Target pricing, but may be combined with Auto-Refill discounts. Offer ends if eligibility requirements are not met. Additional terms may apply.”After this was pointed out to the agent he gave me the correct billing amount… but the online system still does not show the discount. I will see if I am billed properly next month.
Does AARP have inexpensive car insurance?
The Quality Inn Ocean City MD that AARP recommended was the worst hotel stay I have ever stayed at. The room was very unsanitary. There was ¼ inch thick layer of filth on the air vents. Mold in the upper right corner, along the bathroom tub, along the floor, in the sink, the carpet was torn, there were holes in the walls, the shower hold bar was cracked so badly that if you held onto it, it might have cut you. The tissue box had a huge crack so if you would put your hand too deep in the box it would pinch you. The corner of the pillow looked like it had blood or a red stain of some sort. There constant noise fridge making a popping sound, people stomping above, traffic etc. It is by the far the worst hotel experience I have ever had. Why AARP recommended them is beyond me. My husband and I now call it the “un-Quality Inn. I did write the hotel and I do have multiple photos of the awful condition of the room and all I received was “sorry” which is something but does not make up for a ho
Hello everyone! I am new to AARP. As I Look through everything it has to offer for me It has become a little overwhelming. I'm planning a vacation to Dollywood Pigeon Forge and would love to hear from anyone who has already taken advantage of all the perk AARP offers. I dont know where to begin looking for discounts, coupons etc. Here on AARP. Any ideas and recommendations would be awesome. 😁
I have not been able to do anything in AARP rewards. All we get is a message that says "We are currently experiencing technical difficulties in processing your request. Please retry in a few minutes. Thank you for your patience." for several weeks. The resolution we are provided is that someone is "working on it". Planned to buy guftcards for upcoming travel, which seems unlikely at this point.
Never use any OTA, they steal 15 to 50 percent from every booking. The hotel, motel industry would be better and cheaper if you book direct. As The OTas raise the rates so they can get more money from the hotels. In turn the hotels raise rates to compensate for the OTA fees. Always book direct. AARP SHOULD NOT SUPPORT ORGANIZATIONS THAT ROB YOU OF YOUR HARD EARNED MONEY.
