It has been a very long time since I thought of them but did when I happen to take the City Bus here in Virginia. Usually I AVOID anything to do with the City Bus, but the OTHER Old Lady (2006 Hyundai Elantra) needs a LOW MILEAGE engine. I am on my mechanic's Things To Do List. The bus is a VERY LONG ride from my side of town & I took it to the downtown Walmart. To my pleasure, it circled through the HUGE MALL before stopping at Walmart. It was a "mixture" of sadness & memories as we rode by the HUGE "empty" SEARS building. I remember as a "child" my parents ORDERING from the Sears CATALOG. And me totally "fascinated" with the HUGE catalog = lots of stuff to dream about getting. Then as a teen, I had a job at the Sears in St. Louis, Missouri and had my 1st car serviced at their Auto Center. I am surprised the building here is standing empty. I would have thought another "retailer" would have taken over. Nicole!

Hello Everyone, recently retired and new to the forums. I’ll read around and get caught up.

My name is Carey Ann. I live in western KY near The Ohio River. I have 3 precious fur kiddos: Joy Belle is my 15 year old Yorkie-Shih Tzu mix, Kaela Grace is my 11 year old Jack Russell-Yorkie mix, and Maren Joi is my 8 year old medium hair domestic tabby cat. They are my heartbeat! I am unable to work due to disabilities, and I'm about to try for SSI for the fifth time very soon. For now, I live with my dad. We kind of take care of each other. I was living with my mother and was her caregiver full-time until one morning 3 years ago, she simply did not wake up. Last October, my only sibling, my sister, also passed away unexpectedly. So, Dad and I are the only ones left.  I love to take photos, although I'm not great at it. I just use my phone's camera. LOL. I love taking pictures of my babies and of pretty much anything in nature. I love to sing (or make a joyful "noise"). That's all I can think of right now! 🦋

Why is semi-retirement so difficult and is there someplace to go and talk with other struggling Semi-retirees? 

If you sent a message requesting a response from someone that you know received your message and, yet, they did not respond on purpose, would you consider that rude, impolite, and discourteous if they were: (1) A Friend(2) A Politician(3) Manager Of A Retail Entity(4) A Low Level Administrative Person In A Membership Organization Like A Church Or Union(5) A Co-Worker Would their status to you affect how you felt about the purposeful ignoring of your concerns?    

Living on the Eastern Shore of Maryland looking for cancer groups my fiancé has stage four metastatic lung cancer and has spread to his brain he has had radiation and gamma knife surgery and has had six tumors in his brain. Looking for support groups and services in our area. We are struggling financially and are a family with children in school as well. Trying to see what is out there so we don’t feel like we are fighting this tough fight all alone!

Hello I’m Yvette! I’m new at this. I moved to the Midlands in SC from Miami. It’s hard to meet and make new friends here. I live with my husband and our two feline fur babies. I love to travel and would like to form or be part of an international travel group. I also play the piano or try to at least! I love reading and watching cozy mysteries. I cook and love trying out new recipes. I collect vintage cookbooks from the 70’s and 80’s. I cook mostly from recipes out of the New York Times cooking app. I’d be lost without it. I’ve been thinking about how our idea of a good day changes as we get older. When I was younger, I was always looking ahead to the next big thing. These days, I find myself appreciating the simple stuff a lot more — a good cup of coffee, getting outside, working in the garden, a laugh with a friend, or even just having a quiet evening after a busy day.I’m still working, so I definitely notice those little moments when I actually get time to slow down.For me, I think one of the biggest changes is simply learning to enjoy where I am instead of always rushing toward what’s next.What’s something simple in your everyday life that you appreciate much more now than you did when you were younger? 😊

ABOUT ME. I am a previous customer from many many years back. I have no idea why I have not signed up for AARP.  I am from Wooster, OHIO. Our birthdays are two days apart, same year. We are 74 years old still have our faculties, our walking is still good. We still keep my friends very entertained.  I am married to my childhood sweetheart at 14 years old when we were both 58. We live in Eugene Oregon. I have been here for 51 years.  I moved to Eugene,OR but my husband was not ready to leave the town that he was born raised in and leave all of his children and grandchildren.  He moved here 10 yrs ago. I have two Successful wonderful boys. My eldest boy has the YouTube channel Joel Beckman‘s Dog Training that does very well.  If you have any problems with your dog, please check out his YouTube training channel. My youngest just graduated from culinary school and is working three jobs as a chef.

 I'm currently an unemployed highly skilled professional with a background in manufacturing supply chain.  I recently had a job I loved at a start-up company, and was hoping to work there until I retired, but as start-ups go, they are VERY unpredictable. Their business model changed and I was laid off.  I've been working part-time at another startup, but again, this place used up all its Series A funding and are waiting on, supplemental funds so I've been out of work for 2 months.   My husband, who IS working was recently diagnosed with early stage Parkinsons.  His medication is finally adjusted to where he's pretty much his old self for 90% of the time.  However, when he gets home from work, he's completely spent.  Which means I literally do EVERYTHING around the house.  (Because of traffic, his commute is pretty long)  (Positions within some startups are very flexible, so I could work and still manage the house) I'm afraid i

Did not get what I thought.  Had an electrical issue that was urgent and told their "chosen" vendor had no appointments for one week.   I am not renewing my coverage and urge all considering it to get full details as to response time.  Lots of rhetoric about language in the agreement that you dont see in their ads and AARP promoting tthem
