What will the grandkids remember about you? 💭

Watching my grandkids grow up so fast lately and it got me thinking… what are they actually going to remember about their grandpa?

I don’t remember much about my own grandpa. Bits and pieces. Even my dad, he was only 5 when the Germans bombed them in World War 2, and I never really heard the whole story from him.

What do you want to leave behind for yours? Do you tell them your stories, or do they not really ask?

My grandkids have always been reminded of my grandfather’s service in Spanish American War and of my father’s service as a career firefighter and that he was exempted from WWII due to the priority of being a firefighter in Louisville, KY. Grandkids also have been told of the history of their grandmother’s service in WWII as Nurse and member of Army Nurse Corps. Many of her stories have been recorded by Library of Congress and they can hear them in her words.  My grandkids also know of their own Mom and Dad serving in the Army and their careers both overseas, deployments, and stateside. My grandkids know of my own service as a DA civilian overseas and stateside.

That’s a great way to be remembered for everyone! Very cool!
