How can I get my money back or use AARP to an advantage so it's worth the yearly fee.  All I get is spam mail and waste of paper letters trying to sell me insurance etc.  I get emails telling me to enter contests that I have to work to earn points to enter.  What's up with that?  I've spent several hours to enter a handful of contests and won nothing.   Basically, AARP has been a huge waste of time and money.  I can't afford hotels or eating out on an 800$ a month fixed income to enjoy the coupons. My money is spent on bills by the 5th of the month. Why should anybody pay to get discount coupons anyhow?  I can't understand how AARP is legally charging anybody for this and what does anybody get out of it.  What am I overlooking something?

II want to switch to receiving the AARP Magazine and Bulletin digitally. But I want to continue to receive a plastic membership card, not a digital card. How can this be accomplished? It appears that AARP is not giving me that choice. 

Does this cost the same as the physical membership? Thanks

 Hi,Today I agreed to change to Digital membership, which includes the magazine, bulleting and card digital versions. But there might be places in which the Digital card, using the App, might not be suitable. How can I opt for the Digital Magazine and Bulletin but keep receiving the physical cards?

I got a letter in the mail advertising a free cooler bag with membership. But I ended up signing up for  the membership online because it was easier for me. Do I still get the cooler bagger or did I mess up by doing it online instead of by mail?

Hi, I would like to know if the points from family member, (the secondary member I chose)  can be transferred to my account since I won't be renewing the paid membership and her acct will be deleted.  Its been two months and still she hasnt been able to redeem points, enter giveaways nor Instant wins.  Whats the point of having this acct if she can't use it despite her seeking help from AARP but to no avail.   So she has a point balance and I want to know if her point balance can be transferred to my acct.   

How do I cancel my subscription and get a refund?

Hello, the website shows new members can join for $9 per year with a 5-year commitment. Why is this offer not available for current members who are due for renewal? Are you more interested in attracting new members than retaining current / existing members? Thank you.

my account lists me as secondary but am the primary member.  my wifes name on account should be secondary so needs to be changed. Thank you Kim Cummings

Where do I go to change my preferences so I can receive the printed magazine instead of the digital?

 I believe I have a simple question but have waiting one hour for the CHAT which states it is open 24 hours!  I bought a coupon for Princess cruise line, although can not find any documents.  My simple question is where do I find on line in the website the rewards I have purchased thus far???

When I joined AARP, I elected NO mail and yet, I am getting flooded with such. AARP needs to inform their IT department to fix the issue by not adding our addresses to their junk mailing list as requested. Members are tired of being flooded by junk mailings. I canceled my membership years ago due to this and was PROMISED that AARP would not send any more junk mail if I rejoined, and obviously AARP lied which resulted in my requesting a refund. Customer Service Stephanie was rude and I caught her in a few lies about the mailings, stating they would continue for another 12 weeks. If AARP is hiring people that deceives members, I have a bad opinion of an organization that is not in our best interests. 

Please cancel my membership account 

How can we stop AARP from sending multiple Emails per day everyday It waste or time deleting them,  we can only block 1000 with our email system. I left a post about this and then I reached out via chat back on April 17th-  got the transcript -  as I explained to the agent I havent been able to redeem points, enter sweepstakes or play the I/W's since the beginning of April 2025!!!   I pointed this out to the family member who added me as a secondary, he even left a post about it.   Well I told him he's crazy to ever renew this paid membership because clearly not getting money's worth.  NOw with only 4 days left in the month to enter giveaways or play the IW's I still can't because I keep getting the same error message -   ARE YOU GOING TO HELP OR NOT??

I received a thick envelope today from AARP.  Leafing through the contents, I came to the conclusion that AARP is nothing other than a conduit for advertising.  In the envelope were ads for: Consumer CellularWyndhamEyeMedValvolineWalgreensThe HartfordDelta Dental These contents about filled my trash can. What a waste of paper, what damage to the environment, and what a pointless waste of my time. Shouldn't AARP concentrate on representing its constituents rather than being a SHILL for other companies? I think so. What do you think??????  

I signed up for this course a couple weeks ago. Paid around $25 for it for my insurance company. It said the course met the requirements for my specific state. I would say that is accurate to the point in all honesty that maybe 10% meets the requirements and that could leave it at that. The other 90% is just nauseating. Worse than watching paint dry. On and on and on about physiology and everything under the sun that could be associated with driving in an 8th cousin, 50 times removed sort of way. It's been 2 weeks since I started the course. I have the patience of a snail but I just cannot handle this and just petering my way on through it. It is decent information but just does not belong. Did you know the first electric stoplight was installed in Cleveland in 1914? Road markers were used as far back as 250BC by the Romans. Okay for Trivial Pursuit but I don't care!  If you must take a course for insurance, find another one

Hello I was supposed to receive Red and Gray Spider Splash Day Bag and instead got an open tote bag with a circle print on it hoping I can get the correct item sent. 

When AARP sent a letter to rejoin for a year the free welcome back gift was a free insulated trunk organizer . I am being told I’m getting something different . That is false advertising! You advertised the trunk organizer and that is what I want and should be getting. I should have known better because this happened the last time we joined .  I would rather be reimbursed my $15.00 for rejoining since you lied about the welcome back gift. 

I keep getting mail asking why I haven't joined and why am I ignoring the notices, well lets see maybe because I am a paid member until 2030! Why are you wasting sending me this cr*p when it could be put to better use somewhere else. Getting real tired of it especially since I called awhile back and spoke to someone about it and they said they will take care of it. If this continues I will never give AARP another nickel to watch it be wasted.

I just received a new membership card from you (I don't know why), and I notice that the format of my name appears changed. Instead of First I. Last, it now appears as Mx. First Last, where Mx is the traditional Mr./Ms. title prefix. In this time of increasing gender fluidity, I don't want any gendered prefix or title used with my name. (Not to mention prefixes based on marital status.) And this change in the card violates the policy I just read in your help here, where it explicitly states that only the title Dr. is ever used on membership cards. So I'll keep using my existing card, thank you. And I ask that you reconsider forcing old-fashioned gender-based titles on unwilling members. Evolve  forward, not back.

Hi Sandy,I just added my wife to my account as a household member. The instructions say that she will receive an email that she should use to create her own account. She has not received the email. I double checked her email address and there is no aarp emails in her spam or elsewhere. I do not want to create an account from her by registering on the main page in case this doesn't connect us.  Could you please let me know if she will eventually receive an email eventually [aarp may not work weekends - 🙂 ] or if she should just create her own account. Is there any difference if it is linked to our membership, though? Thanks.Dan

Hi, I would like to join for one year without auto-renew.  I do not want my credit card information saved or to have to cancel the membership in a year.  I am comparing AARP to AMAC and so far AMAC allowed me to sign up without auto-renew or saving my credit card information. Is there a link that you could provide that allows me to sign up for one year? Thanks
