One of the most difficult tasks for caregivers is to find the money to pay for care. It's often like a puzzle with many pieces coming together to finance the overall care.  If you're caregiving for someone at home (in their own home or your home), there are services and supports available through the aging network and other organizations which bring care and help to your loved ones at home or are offered in the local community. These services are called "Home- and Community-Based" services. The services are often available at no cost or at a reduced cost, or on a sliding-fee-scale (the cost is based on the recipient's ability to pay). Some services are based on income (for example if they are provided through Medicaid), but many are not income-based and are available to any older adult or person with a disability.  Home- and community-based services may include: Senior centers Adult daycares Congregate meal sites Home-delivered meal programs Personal care from a care aide, home

Every time I try to use REWARDS to get gift cards, I’m an either kicked off the site or transferred to a different are of the site to PURCHASE cards with my personal funds.   I’m feeling like this is all a scam.  If the only thing you can do with rewards is “spin” only to be told you didn’t win anything, what is the point of rewards if only to get you to a page to buy gift cards instead?  I’m concerned that once I hit “create” this question will either disappear or show only AARP generated answers. Thank you.

FROM THE ARTICLE. 9 Big Under-Seat Bags to Take on Your Next Plane Trip. These superstar personal-item bags fit under an airplane seat yet still have room for your travel essentials. By Berit Thorkelson, AARP. Published August 29, 2025. Over the years, I’ve become a pro at packing everything into my personal-item bag when flying. This is largely because airlines have forced my hand. I regularly fly on the cheap, opting for low-cost carriers and full-service carriers’ budget category, both of which often charge for a carry-on.On the low end, on average, that’s $35 per leg, and when you multiply that by four family members, that’s $280, at minimum — money I’d rather spend at my destination or keep in my bank account. My teenage kids have even taken to packing light, if only because they might experience the savings as a splurge vacation meal or destination swag. If we must, we’ll spring for one carry-on for us all. USE LINK BELOW TO READ THE ARTICLE. https://www.a

What is Hex Puzzle Adventure? Hex Puzzle Adventure is a puzzle game that’s as relaxing and satisfying as it is challenging. Match like-colored hexagonal pieces on a hexagonal board to remove as many stacks as you can!   What is the goal of the game? The goal of the game is to remove enough stacks to beat the level and move on to the next one.   How do I beat a level? To beat a level, place two stacks next to each other on the board with the same color piece at the top. The pieces will automatically jump to form one larger stack. When the stack is ten or more pieces, that color will be removed from the game, adding that many points to your total. When your total reaches your goal, you beat the level.   Can I lose? Yes. If you are unable to place a stack due to a full board, you lose a life.   How do lives/hearts work? You will start the game with five lives, or hearts. Every time you fail a level, you lose a life. If you lose all five lives, you won’t be able to play

The subject of instrumentals came up in another thread, so I thought it might be fun to see what instrumental tunes everyone enjoys. Instrumentals cover a wide range of genres when you start to think about it; classical (of course), movie soundtracks, pop, jazz, big band oldies, blues, country, rock, and many instrumental versions of your favorite song titles, too. So what instrumental music do you like? What are your favorite tunes or instrumental versions of your favorite songs? Multiple tunes and multiple genres are okay. And, if you have favorite on youtube, feel free to post the link so that we can listen, too!

My oldest brother was my mentor friend historian in last few years of his 88 yrs we talked on phone 3-4 times a week. He supported me in so many ways as my husband in midst of Alzheimer’s gratefully Mary Ellen

I’ve been researching the challenges people face as they approach retirement, and I keep coming back to one question. There are already resources for Social Security, Medicare, finances, healthcare, estate planning and more—yet many people still seem overwhelmed.Do you think the problem is not enough information, or that there’s already so much information that it’s difficult to know what applies to you and what to do next?I’d really like to hear from people who are retired or approaching retirement.

KFF Health News 07/24/2026 - The New Old Age - To Afford Aging in Place, Older Adults Turn to ‘Golden Girls’ Housing  excerpts from the link ~“ Home sharing “is a really efficient way to create affordable housing and to support older people who want to age in place, . . . . Carefully vetting both “home providers,” who may be rattling around in family houses now too big and too empty, and “home sharers” seeking reasonable rents, About  55 organizations around the country offer these services — and demand is growing, driven by housing shortages, rising rents, and sales prices that affect both the old and the young. Legislators in several states are working to promote home sharing as an option. (Personal care is not part of these arrangements. Although nearly 80% of those people were homeowners, the center found, an increasing proportion are still paying off mortgages or home equity loans, and most contend with higher taxes, utility and maintenance costs, and

I apologized to my wife for a tone I had been calling “just tired." I didn’t add an explanation. I didn’t ask her to meet me in the middle. The next morning was ordinary. That was the change. When has apologizing changed a relationship for the better?

What songs tell a story about historic events, places or people.  I'll start with a true favorite: Roads to Moscow- Al StewartFrom his 1973 Past, Present and Future album This song tells the story of the German invasion of Russia in WWII. Each verse  beautifully captures the different aspects of the conflict as seen through the eyes of a Russian soldier. When you listen, you can almost see the aspects of the campaign happening.

I got an email notification of a reply to a thread about Xarelto and went to the link to view it, and it wasn’t there. I thought maybe the poster changed his mind and deleted that post, because it looked like they were quoting AI that wasn’t accurate. (It said it’s “carefully engineered as a single, extended-release tablet” and that’s not the case.)But now I can’t find the thread at all, including MY posts in it.  I certainly didn’t delete any of my posts.Does this happen?  Entire threads just go POOF without any evidence they were ever there?

Others have commented how bad Avis is but I just searched for a car for an upcoming trip to Palm Springs, CA using the AARP discount.  The lowest rate was about $100 more than the rate I got using Orbitz.  I would suggest that anyone needing a car rental use Orbitz and not waste their time trying to find a car from Avis using the (useless) AARP discount.

I am working as a Project Manager, I am PMP certified, I have a master's and doctorate in IT project management.  I am working in a bank where I have 30 years' work experience. I am being paid $16.00 an hour.  I was being paid $ 94,000 a year.  I left that job because of a breast cancer diagnosis.  When I was able to return to work this is all I could find. I have been submitting applications for 1 1/2 years.  I have submitted hundreds of applications.  I have only gotten a handful of interviews.  I feel I am being taken advantage of.  My education and experience are being utilized but not acknowledged.

I rented a car from Avis using an AARP discount and prepaid for the reservation. When I arrived at my destination, AVIS had NO cars available. After waiting an hour for a car, we gave up. We were told we had 24 hours from the time of our reservation to pick up a car. We paid Lyft $25 for a ride to hotel. The next morning, much less than 24 hours from our reservation time, we returned to the airport. Again, Avis had no cars. They told us it would be at least an hour before any were available. After waiting for a long time, I went over to the National counter, rented a car from them, and left. I then canceled my prepaid reservation. I received a notice that my $373 payment would not be refunded because I had not canceled it timely. I spent an inordinate time on the phone with customer service, and was finally told my payment would be refunded. I received an e-mail saying the refund to my credit card would be made within 3-5 working days. More time than that has passed and as of today

Pinochle is a trick-taking card game played in teams, combining bidding, melding, and strategic play.   How do I win in Pinochle? Your team must reach a target score (usually 150 points) through melds and tricks.   What is a meld in Pinochle? A meld is a combination of cards that scores points before trick-taking begins. Examples include runs, marriages, and pinochles.   What is a pinochle? A pinochle is a meld made of the Jack of Diamonds and Queen of Spades.   How is trump declared? Trump is declared by the highest bidder, who must have a marriage (King and Queen) in that suit.   What happens if a team fails to make their bid? They lose the bid amount in points, which can be a major setback.   Can I play Pinochle solo? Yes, there are solo variants, but traditional Pinochle is played with four players in two teams.   What is double-deck Pinochle? Double-deck Pinochle uses two Pinochle decks combined, increasing the number of cards and complexity. &nb

Just curious about my free gifts that i have'nt recieved yet for joining AARP..

Jewel Quest is a match-3 puzzle game where you match gems to solve challenges and uncover relics.   What is the goal of the game? The goal is to complete level-specific objectives by matching gems and progressing through the adventure. What is Cooking Live? Cooking Live is a fast-paced cooking game where you need to serve your customers exactly the dishes they order while balancing all sorts of ingredients.   What is the goal of the game? The goal of the game is to feed all your customers the dishes they request before they get frustrated and leave. Serve enough customers to beat the level and move on to the next!   When do I beat a level? Before each level, the game will tell you which objectives you need to accomplish. This could be serving a specific number of customers, staying open for a specific length of time, or some other objectives you’ll learn about as the game goes on!   How do I play once I begin a level? When the level begins, you’ll be behind the counter, with ingredients and serving stations in front of you. Click on an ingredient, like the eggs, and it will automatically move to an open pan. When food is being prepared, a circular timer will appear next to it. For drinks like juice, the

I want an E gift card and accidentally deleted. It is there a way to retrieve it?

Read the agreement with Routes Car Rental very carefully. I assumed their terms and conditions were the same as other companies, and I did not notice that they restrict car usage to in-state only. There is a hefty charge for going out of state, and they limit mileage to 200 miles per day.If you don't pay for their insurance, they require your policy number and expiration date, which is hard to get when travelling. Also, the car was a few years old and it was dirty.   Their rates are cheap, but you get what you pay for.

At 1st I was NOT "happy" about its arrival at age 68. Lol, set in my ways & had a major old lady temper tantrum when it took over Google Search. 😅Still NOT happy with it & add my "concern" about it taking CONTROL of the Job Market. 😱Nicole (Technology Forum)

The link for the discount at Walmart plus (on the AARP website) is broken / dead.  It does not take me anywhere, and Walmart cannot honor the discount without this.

Is anyone else still having trouble getting points for doing codeword?I play everyday but can’t remember when was the last time I got points.
