I keep getting mail asking why I haven't joined and why am I ignoring the notices, well lets see maybe because I am a paid member until 2030! Why are you wasting sending me this cr*p when it could be put to better use somewhere else. Getting real tired of it especially since I called awhile back and spoke to someone about it and they said they will take care of it. If this continues I will never give AARP another nickel to watch it be wasted.
I'm done with AARP and Expedia. For the second trip, my TSA Pre check number was missing from my boarding pass. I shouldn't have to double check every time I book a flight that the number was carried over. If that's the policy of Expedia then why ask for the number at all. I went through the security check and met with a federal agent for the convenience of passing up long security lines. It's infuriating to get to the airport only to discover I'm going to be stuck in the main line and will have to remove my shoes. I PAID FOR THIS!!! I think Expedia should pay every passenger $10.00 for missing the pre check on their boarding pass. That might incite them to make sure their system is working. In my case, it won't matter. I won't be using the service or membership anymore.
Good Morning,I have a debit card that I use for certain purchases. The reader will ask me if I want to use it as a debit card or credit card?Is one way safer than the other as far as fraud goes? Thank you,Steve Leccese
I ordered a flower arrangement for a family member to be delivered next week on their birthday. FTD said it wasn't possible for it to be delivered. Apparently a week isn't enough notice, back to square one. They did offer delivery 3 days later. Apparently they don't understand the whole point of having flowers delivered on a person's birthday. Used to be a good service, now it's worthless.
I try to book a flight using the British Airways link from AARP. When I selected the outbound and inbound flights, it showed discount rates for the flights. However, on the page calculating the final price, it erased discounts and ended up to original price without discounts. Does anyone have any luck in getting the discounts now?
Recently, our grown son was in transition to a new duty station and stayed with us for about a month. He had all his family mail forwarded to us, and upon their final move, updated his address again to his new home, in Hawaii (we live in Washington). The USPS change of address system has defaulted to require payment for every address change per individual, so he did a simple "family" update. Oooops, that meant any mail by the same last name ended up forwarded to their new address, including ours. We didn't even realize it until my daughter-in-law alerted me that our mail was showing up at their new home. 2 months later! Thankfully, we are already on online billing, mostly paperless billing, but what was disturbing was that none of our billers ever contacted us to verify we had moved, in fact, many just "automatically" updated our address based upon the USPS notification they received. USPS didn't alert us, our mail lady didn't ask if we had gotten a
I really wish there was a way to stop the free gift when you renew....and honestly I don't want the magazine either (I just throw them away). Free stuff is usually at a few quality.... I don't want it... I am so far away from retiring that nothing in the magazine is useful.
Two things here; 1: Not sure if many people here know about Bluesky. It is similar to X (Twitter) but without all the hate, misinformation, "alternate facts", conspiracy theories and the bigotry. I think that AARP should also be a part of it. 2: Does AARP remove posts without informing you? Right after election time I put out a post titled "AARP needs to be stronger when writing about future of Social Security, Medicaid, Medicare and". This is only a partial title as i don't remember what I put after "and". I am getting multiple comments on it. The last one was dated 3/5/25. But when I click on the emailed link it brings me to an ACCESS DENIED. Also I have searched all over the Community General Help section and can't find it. Not sure what happened. I believe I posted it 11/19/2024.Thanks for all.John14
Why are so many innocuous comments flagged with "Content Deactivated" and "Awaiting Review"? And why does the review process often never happen? I've come back to comments that are weeks or months old, and they're still awaiting review. I would insert a screenshot of a "Content Deactivated" example, but the Insert/Edit Image tool doesn't actually provide a way to insert an image. For example, there's no option for browsing my desktop to select the image.
I just received a new membership card from you (I don't know why), and I notice that the format of my name appears changed. Instead of First I. Last, it now appears as Mx. First Last, where Mx is the traditional Mr./Ms. title prefix. In this time of increasing gender fluidity, I don't want any gendered prefix or title used with my name. (Not to mention prefixes based on marital status.) And this change in the card violates the policy I just read in your help here, where it explicitly states that only the title Dr. is ever used on membership cards. So I'll keep using my existing card, thank you. And I ask that you reconsider forcing old-fashioned gender-based titles on unwilling members. Evolve forward, not back.
Hi Sandy,I just added my wife to my account as a household member. The instructions say that she will receive an email that she should use to create her own account. She has not received the email. I double checked her email address and there is no aarp emails in her spam or elsewhere. I do not want to create an account from her by registering on the main page in case this doesn't connect us. Could you please let me know if she will eventually receive an email eventually [aarp may not work weekends - 🙂 ] or if she should just create her own account. Is there any difference if it is linked to our membership, though? Thanks.Dan
Waiting for the updated Winner's List from the sweepstakes- the winners from February 2025- Its suspicious if AARP hasnt updated that because of the points people give up- You used to be regular with updating this, now its almost two weeks overdue. PLEASE UPDATE and STAY TRANSPARENT!
It is clear that AARP'S Management does not take criticism well. AARP used to be a force that represented those of us 50 and over. It now accepts members of any age and that has diluted the force of their representation. When I express my true feelings on this subject,,,, my comments disappear. Rather than transparency, there is censorship.
I have been getting phone calls everyday from a "Brian" at the "Tax Relief Center" asking to help with my unpaid taxes. 1. I DONT HAVE ANY UNPAID BILLS OR TAXES!!2. WHY is AARP supporting this FRAUDULENT company??.3. The company picks up a name from their (minimal) debt research and without doing any due diligence in researching a debt they just start calling everyone with the same name. (Their research is by eliminating people who complain but still have to put up with their calls).4. These companies should have to prove/document they have the right person before calling (especially should NOT call every day to weeks).5. If the company believes they have a legitimate case .....DO IT BY MAIL NOT PHONE CALLS!!!6. I AM ON THE DO NOT CALL LIST.7. I should NOT HAVE TO JUSTIFY TO THE COMPANY THAT THEY HAVE THE WRONG PERSON.....note. the problem with justifying to the company is that you can end up giving personal information and the is UNACCEPTABLE. AND I DON'T TRUST COMPANIES LI
Just booked through Avis and tried to cancel less than 5 minutes later. They wanted to charge me $50. I would not recommend booking them! They are higher than other options out there even with their so called 30% discount. I wish I would have read problems others have had with Avis before booking.
Hilton Hotels are listed as giving discounts up to 10% to AARP Members. Why then, when I go to make a reservation at a Hampton Inn or Hilton Garden Inn, the AARP rate is typically $10-$30 MORE than the standard rate? This has just started in the past year or so. It did not used to be that way when making a reservation on line.
Once again my Hartford auto premium has increased by over 15% in 6 months. That is now a total of 75% since starting the policy in 2023, despite no claims, no new vehicles, and taking their defensive driving course. I used to think of AARP as a very helpful organization for seniors. But their lack of willingness to at least acknowledge, if not confront, this issue that impacts so many members is extremely disappointing at the very least. My fellow members, please, its time to rise up en masse, and demand that AARP take a position - on the member's side.
Please do something about the chronic spammers such as AllenD158612. I and other members keep reporting them, yet those posts remain up, and they post even more. It's even more annoying that your AI allows spam posts, yet innocuous posts from legitimate members are frequently put in "Awaiting Review" limbo for weeks, months or forever or have their "Content Deactivated" for no apparent reason and with no explanation no matter how many times we ask on here or how often we email community@aarp.org.
How do I cancel my membership?
Hi, I would like to join for one year without auto-renew. I do not want my credit card information saved or to have to cancel the membership in a year. I am comparing AARP to AMAC and so far AMAC allowed me to sign up without auto-renew or saving my credit card information. Is there a link that you could provide that allows me to sign up for one year? Thanks

Keep getting error messages that say "cannot redeem points. " I called the help desk person who tried to help without success so she filled out a request to have a techie call me. She read notes in my file from techie who said he called 2x & left messages. NOT! I am home most of every day & nobody called here nor left messages. I have tried to redeem weekly since Jan without success. Takes weeks for someone to return calls, or so they say. What is going on?
Mahjongg Dark Dimensions -- started today showing a "Reshuffling" notice, then after playing for a very short time, it ends the game, even with plenty of time left.
The discussion board, “ABOUT OUR COMMUNITY”, has seemed to disappear without warning from AARP. In the past, removal of discussion boards were announced, and reasonable points were forthcoming as to the purpose of the removal. But here, we just have a disappearance. Do any of you out there have any idea why “ABOUT OUR COMMUNITY” disappeared?
I just received an envelope from AARP with a bold red statement stating STATEMENT ENCLOSED. Along, with MEMBER: Your new AARP card is enclosed. To activate, please return your statement. Not only is all of that telling someone I have AARP and my card is there, the card is completely showing through a window with my name, membership #, and Valued Member Since year. So now someone has the information of my address, name, card #, how long I been a member, and that this is a billing statement and they don't even have to open the envelope! Is there any other information that you want to give them?!! If it didn't show the correct membership # I would have thought it was a scam. I am not happy about all that could have been shared with someone. Since AARP is always doing articles on privacy and security, I am shocked by this.
