New York Life is NOT Guaranteed Acceptance - they turned me down!

Hi. After retiring, I started a new career I think would interest AARP magazine readers. How do I get in touch with someone at the magazine who might be interested in writing an article or small mention about me? Thank you.

For those living in VA can you share what the yearly car registration renewal is in VA? If it's like where we live now in NC inside of Wake County it can fluctuate from county to county. This is specifically for the western side of VA near the mountains and country. I didn't see that on the smart asset website I'm using to compare TN and VA ideas for retirement. One thing is for sure overall VA seems to be less costly in the western part of the state than Wake County in NC where we're at. TN in Tri-cities was less costly with homes and retirement, but many outsiders have moved in from more expensive states and really messed that market up unfortunately.  Thank you for any guidance. Rick

 Either Denny's has a 15% discount or they don't. Enough with the marketing games. Why should seniors be expected to read the fine print on the Denny's website to finagle a discount widely promoted online and on the AARP site as well?  AARP should remove Denny's from the advertised discounts.  Recently I had lunch at a Salem, Va Denny's. Bill was $23. Discount was $1.23, hardly a 15% discount.  Seniors are a big part of their customer base. It is inexcusable that they are attracting folks based on sneaky promotions and using AARP to do so.

Whenever the red revolving circle appears, forcing you to log in AGAIN, simply hit the back button on your cell phone or computer (while the red circle is revolving) and you WILL NOT have to go through the annoying login process AGAIN! 

  Misplaced card and need membership number 

My wife and I have been considering an AARP membership for a couple years.  Today, we joined when we saw we could buy discounted Cirque du Soleil tickets as members. Unfortunately, their 'discounts' through their memberdeals.com website are NOT discounts at all!  The seats they offered us were $511 for two.  Buying those same seats on Bellagio's own site are $479. If AARP members are buying things that they think are discounted, but cost them more, then AARP is doing a disservice to us in the least, and possibly fraud at most.

I wish AARP publishes articles that are worth reading that will add value to the reader. 99% of the articles are useless and misleading. Like the "7 Home Items Worth the Splurge " article. It talks about energy efficient appliances. First of all, any new appliance you buy are energy efficient, you cannot find inefficient appliance anymore. And then it is advising readers to replace a refrigerator to an energy efficient one to save $220 over 12 years, that is about $19 a year, how stupid is this? You are going to spend $2000 to save $19 a year, where is the ROI? Just wait for the appliance to die, instead of spending money fixing it especially the cost of repairs are high, then you just replace with an energy efficient one. This is common sense and does not need an article. All AARP members are seniors that have lived through these events in their lifetime, don't need such articles.   All articles are like this, make no sense. Stop with this BS and write something useful.

Some of the online activities are enjoyable and useful; however, AARP has decided to put pop ups for surveys while it is still in process blocking the video.  It is disruptive to the user and not member friendly.  The IT team cannot prevent the timing problem, really? I've been a member for years but as others have mentioned, I question the value of the membership . . . especially as the price goes up!

Yesterday I came across a posting by a MODERATOR which was a single TRAVEL TRIVIA question.  It was answered correctly by a newbie. These being DISCUSSION BOARDS, I found reading a single question....asked and answered...... to be a waste of my time. To express my opinion of the thread, I posted a message that was basically the word DULL typed several times. Today, that comment is missing. The censorship on these boards is getting out of hand.  MODERATORS are censoring comments based on personal preferences, not based on violations of the guidelines or Terms of Service.

I have not received a membership card yet, only the ability to print my own which is on plain paper and isn't very sturdy in my wallet

How can I get my money back or use AARP to an advantage so it's worth the yearly fee.  All I get is spam mail and waste of paper letters trying to sell me insurance etc.  I get emails telling me to enter contests that I have to work to earn points to enter.  What's up with that?  I've spent several hours to enter a handful of contests and won nothing.   Basically, AARP has been a huge waste of time and money.  I can't afford hotels or eating out on an 800$ a month fixed income to enjoy the coupons. My money is spent on bills by the 5th of the month. Why should anybody pay to get discount coupons anyhow?  I can't understand how AARP is legally charging anybody for this and what does anybody get out of it.  What am I overlooking something?

II want to switch to receiving the AARP Magazine and Bulletin digitally. But I want to continue to receive a plastic membership card, not a digital card. How can this be accomplished? It appears that AARP is not giving me that choice. 

Does this cost the same as the physical membership? Thanks

What's the point of asking whether we want to keep social security or not?  Sends an email to whom, exactly? More to the point, why isn't the AARP doing more to educate their members about the mechanisms that are threatening our social security?  How about details on how this administration is cutting medicare and medicaid for millions of US Citizens? These emails that send emails seem feckless - especially for an organization as large as AARP.     

What really concerns me is when you send emails out and you include the Membership number. This is a security problem waiting to happen. Membership #: XXXXXXXXXX123 You don’t need to include it in the email, but if you do you should it X-out like above. Thanks 

My email address is updated and clearly correct on my account profile. It has been this way for at least 2 years. Almost all of the correspondence from AARP goes to this address. If I make any account changes the notices go to my old email address. I still have it but I'm trying to move away from it. What would be the reason for this and is there anything I can do to get all information going to my current email address? Thank you,Anthony W. Gatton

Hello, I would like to continue receiving the paper version of the AARP Magazine to my home, but would like to discontinue receiving the AARP Bulletin. Can you please direct me as to how to accomplish this.Thank you!

My wife and I are both members, so we get two copies of the magazine and bulletin. Is there a way get only one copy and save the trees? Thanks Joe Sarnelle

 Hi,Today I agreed to change to Digital membership, which includes the magazine, bulleting and card digital versions. But there might be places in which the Digital card, using the App, might not be suitable. How can I opt for the Digital Magazine and Bulletin but keep receiving the physical cards?

AARP Extra Credit rewards are not working. I've done the videos and quizzes for each category. I'm still not able to redeem anything.How come this happens every month? PLEASE FIX THIS!!!!!

I got a letter in the mail advertising a free cooler bag with membership. But I ended up signing up for  the membership online because it was easier for me. Do I still get the cooler bagger or did I mess up by doing it online instead of by mail?
