As a newer member, I find AARP to be pretty great, and I'll continue to be a member. But I have a criticism of some of the deceptive and manipulative marketing tactics used by either AARP or AARP-sanctioned partners. These are: 1) Marketing mail that use cards that appear at first like a gift card of value, but really are just print outs of the "savings" you could get if you buy the insurance, etc. 2) Fake polls. An example is answering poll questions like, "Do you support Social Security?". These are blatantly just to get clicks, and are not good faith gathering of information. Using these tactics on a population of people with increased susceptiblity of deception isn't a good look. I'd prefer AARP have a set of standards for marketing that prevented the low-brow tactics. Again, overall great, just offering criticism if it helps.
Why do I have to keep watching the same stupid Humpty Dumpty commercial over and over again when I play games. This thing is 3 1/2 minutes long. I don't need a mattress but even if I did this would tick me off.
The AARP 1040 Tax Calculator is a useful tool for estimating taxes. Does anyone know when AARP will be updating this calculator with the 2025 tax code changes that were passed this year.
Hi its the video " Ease Your Pain with Better Sleep" it shows that I have viewed it but it does NOT show in my transaction list.. Instead it lists a video about pickleball. I have watched ALL the pickleball videos thinking there is a crossover tech problem but still I cannot redeem for a CVS gift card. Its that last video... no matter how many times I watch it it doesnt register in the account and so I havent been able to meet all the requirements of that Extra Credit list "Sleep Your Way to a Better You" Thank you for reading
This happens every month. I go out to redeem an earned rewards. The site makes me take some quizzes or watch some videos. It says I completed the tasks but when I go to make the redemption it tells me I need to complete the tasks. I try to do it AGAIN, and it tells me I've already completed it. I then go back to make the redemption and yet again it says I need to complete the tasks. Its an annoying endless circle. Whoever is in charge of the rewards program needs to be replaced. I've been asking AARP to fix their broken site for over two years. I get a lot of lip service, but apparently they are too busy getting their commissions from hawking other products to hire someone who actually knows how to build a working website. When my membership expires I won't be renewing it. Your rewards program is nothing short of a bait and switch. BROKEN, BROKEN, BROKEN! A total waste of our time.
As anyone can tell from reading the posts in this community, the AARP discounts are not always discounts. A “discount” depends on the definition applied by the issuer. AARP is a great organization, however, they, like any club, must depend on income in order to survive. To attract and hold membership clubs and organizations offer discount packages that are probably marketed to the organization’s administration as deal for their membership with a kickback for the organization. AARP recently sent out an offer for a 10% discount on GE appliances. The link brings you to a third-party page, (possibly the package issuer site), then to a GE page where you must register before access is permitted. You must then agree not to divulge the special pricing. Ultimately, you will not see the final price until a product is in your shopping cart. All this spy drama to give the impression that you are receiving a super-special deal. You’re not. With all discounts applied, the special AARP in-the-ca
Although I keep accumulating AARP points, there's nothing that I want to exchange them for. Anything that I might pconsider costs far more than the number of points that I'm likely to accumulate in my lifetime. What is the benefit of this program? Does anyone see any value in it? Most of what I can purchase with my existing points is merely a teaser to get me to buy more expensive products from the seller. If you want to continue this program, at least offer something worthwhile, or even better, give me a discount on AARP's programs that I use.
The instructions are to go to My Settings/Preferences/Private Messenger tab to turn on private messaging. Following the instructions, I do not get the Private Messenger tab to be able to turn on. How can I rectify this?
I Just want to get an AARP PHYSICAL membership card MAILED (NOT Emailed) to my address. Not interested in E-Cards. Not interested in the App. Will never load the AARP App on my phone. This has proven to be daunting! I live in the physical world and I just want to receive my physical membership card by surface mail to my address. Not planning to review my membership due to this!S.A.
INCOMPETENCE MASQUERADING AS A SCAM #1: Expedia-AARP.com sent me an email offering a 10% discount for a hotel stay. Book before 12/31/25 and stay anytime before the cutoff date in 2026. I booked a 10-day hotel stay -- but there's nowhere to enter the coupon code (PACKYOURBAGS) on the reservation or payment page. I attempted to resolve this with their chat representative. She referred me to the "terms and conditions" page which plainly states that there's a link to click on the reservations page to enter the coupone code. There is no such link. There is no option anywhere on Expedia-AARP.com to enter a coupon code when booking a hotel. INCOMPETENCE MASQUERADING AS A SCAM #2 Harford Insurance offered a free travel tote in return for requesting a quote and providing an email address. I did so several months ago. No travel tote. This is low-level, used-car-salesman level lying. MY RESPONSE: My AARP membership renews next month. I've turned off automatic
I am livid! The verification method requires you type in a sentence on the same device you enrolled in the course. I used my phone. I got through 90% of the stupid course and it decided it couldn't verify me! 90%?!?!?!? It made me start all over! I am furious. My brain is f%^&ing numb! I want my freaking money back, what a ripoff and waste of 6 hours of my life! NEVER AGAIN!!!!!!!!!
Ever since my renewal a few months ago, I have not been receiving the magazine or bulletin. I have also gone on the app to check each for status and have no luck navigating that info. Please advise ASAP.Thank you
The name you have on the temporary membership card you sent me recently is wrong. It is impossible to reach AARP by phone. Howdo I get it fixed?
Is there a television set that is friendly to seniors, i.e. does not have a complicated remote and initial screens that have all kinds of unnecessary icons?
Hello I am wondering what I’m being charged for? I did not give authorization to withdraw from my account, cancel whatever it is and refund, thank you!!!
I just found a new AARP Member Benefit that is great for me (I gave up driving when I realized I was unable to be attentive and feared I might hurt someone)! Have been using Walmart+ since it was introduced, and just as I'm up for renewal, AARP offered "$20 Off a Walmart+ Annual Membership". I completed the offer and my Walmart+ account showed it applied within minutes, so I can vouch for this offer. hth
I live in a small town and rarely travel. I believe I have used my membership once or twice in all the years I have had it. Apparently, membership is only valuable if you live in a large metropolitan area. Yes, I know there are online benefits, such as quizzes, games, and videos. I am talking about those within the community. Am I missing membership benefits? I am seriously thinking of cancelling my membership even though it is only $20/year.
I booked a hotel room through Expedia for a June 11th one night stay and prepaid. I then went online and changed the reservation to arrive on June 10th instead and was charged again for a one night stay. When I arrived at the hotel there was no reservation for the 10th. I was told there was still one for the 11th. I asked to cancel that and was told that Expedia would need to cancel it. Soooo I had to pay the hotel directly for the one night stay on the 10th. So I ended up paying 3 times. Per the hotel Manager I could not cancel the incorrect/revised reservation for the 11th, that Expedia would have to call to do that. I call Expedia immediately and they cancelled the stay for the 11th. After returning from my trip I called Expedia to get a refund for both the 10th and the 11th. I was told they would review the information and get back to me within 72 hours. I did that drill at least 4 times and was never contacted. I call again and finally got
I noticed this issue first with the Arkadium's Fill Ins puzzle but it has now also started on Garden Bloom. The red AARP banner at the top of the page (where it says "AARP - Membership & Benefits - Members Edition . . .") is now lowering down so far on the screen, it is obstructing view of the puzzle. No amount of fooling with the scroll bars fixes the problem. I already have my window as large as my monitor will allow. It used to be the banner would lower if you scrolled over it but recently it doesn't go back up. I'm attaching a screen shot of the problem. Notice the large amount of white space between my bookmark toolbar at the top of the screen and the red AARP banner.
Greetings, Over a year ago I started my mother on a CC plan to help her save money. Over the past few months her health has declined but we kept the phone active for emergency purposes. Even though she had not been using we kept paying. This past week we had to move her to a Memory Care facility. Her CC bill was the last thing on our minds. Yesterday I received notice of the monthly charge. When I called to cancel the representative had no clue what memory care was or quite frankly could have cared less. I asked her to cancel the phone immediately and refund any portion available to my mother's card. Oh can't do that it's autopay and CC does billing in arrears so payment yesterday only paid until 5/15/25. She would owe till 6/15/25. Ok she's not used the phone since 5/16 but ok. Called back to speak to a supervisor - the next rep was better but still could not assist and did not see any notes from previous rep. She then sent me to a supervisor who promptly told me he couldn'
I have three specific questions that I've spent countless hrs. researching but can't find the answer to and of which my attorney answers vaguely. This is in regard to my parent's death (90 yrs old) and her sole asset which was a co op in her name in Nassau County NY. She received community Medicaid from 2021 to 2024 and she died in 2024. Medicaid already sent me the affidavit with amount they want to recover which is sizable. I am the adult child / executor. I'm asking because I am the adult child / executor who would like to know when I can withdraw / use that money from the estate account. Questions:1. What is the timeframe that Medicaid has for estate recovery in New York State? I'm finding mixed AI results online such as 5 years, 6 years, 20 years. 2. Where can I find a neutral third party to answer these Medicaid questions?3. Does anyone have great information regarding their experience with negotiating with Medicaid? My attorney said once I receive the letter fro
I submitted a comment and posted it only to see ‘Comtent deactivated-Why?’ What does this mean?
Recently, I received a membership renewal letter in the mail. It was requesting $17 for “Mexico/Canada membership”. Unfortunately - asking for a check or money order. Since it would be much easier to do this transaction online - I logged in and started the process. But the fee being requested online is $32! Why such a huge difference? I attempted to enable Private Messenger in the forum (using the instructions from other posts) - but My Settings has no such tab…
I already have an American Home Shield policy but I noticed that AARP offers a discount on pricing. Is there a way I can get that discount if I already have a policy? Thanks.
What happened to all the sweepstakes that were available prior to the outage?
