FAVORITE MALE SINGERS OF ANY GENRE

Well, we can't leave the guys out can
we?  Who are your favorite male singers of any
genre?  I'm not talking bands here but solo artists.  Of
course, if they were in a band and also went solo you can still name
them such as Jon Bon Jovi or Richie Sambora both of whom are members
of the group Bon Jovi but have also gone solo.  Here's some of
mine from times past to the present:

Frank Sinatra,
Perry Como, Dean Martin, Brook Benton, Jerry Butler, Conway Twitty,

To each his own.  I've never
been an Ozzy or Black Sabbath fan but then I've never been much into
metal.  I do have a few favorite songs by some so called
"metal" groups but don't care for a steady diet.

Don't know that
we've mentioned John Mellencamp yet so I'll add him to the
list.  Seen him in concert twice and I wasn't disappointed
either time.  Even got to see him play basketball before the
show.  Second concert was a double bill with John Fogerty
another favorite of mine.

Those are two great

sound"  as you say.

I think that is one of
the greatest things about music; the diversity of sound and style
and artists but the common threads of feeling and emotion that
give a common link to all these different artists and their
work.  There are lots of artists that you may appreciate for
only some of their work and others who you love for all of their
work.... but whatever the case may be there is room for it
all!!!  and we all appreciate each others tastes and
choices.  Ain't it great : )

One of the
greatest male artists not previously mentioned is New Orleans great
Antoine "Fats" Domino.  He gave us many great songs
including "Blueberry Hill" which Richie Cunningham always
sang the 1st line from on "Happy Days" and my favorite
"I Want To Walk You Home".  His home in New
Orleans was severely damaged during hurricane
Katrina.  A foundation has been formed and there is hope that
it will be restored and he can return there
someday.  He is now 80 years old.

about learning about artists & music that you wouldn't have
heard about otherwise.  Another thing it does is makes you
want to listen to someone you never gave a chance like me
getting out one of my hubby's Steely Dan CD's.  Since music
tastes can change with the years I may like them now.  We'll
see.  He turned me on to Elvis Costello so you never know.
