I wondered if  it would be implied that I meant to buy a gift if I’d shown up with an empty gift bag! Notes  are not the only acknowledgements that are going away…not even a nod if you open a door or let someone with one avocado  and a candy bar go ahead of you in line at the grocery store. What have your experiences been with what I consider to be common courtesy?I guess I just need to remember my daughter-in-law”s last words on the subject. “Our  generation is just not hung up on formalities” she noted and ended with “By the way You’re  Welcome!”      . 

I am grateful he is safe. I am the only mother he knows....but I still feel so cheated. I'm only 47. I raised my children and I only had a year to myself. The toll it has taken on my life is immense. My relationship I have which was fun and new has now become chores and meals, schedules and freedom restrictions. My son is useless to help. I can't help but resent my son very, very much for laying this on me. I am lonely, my love life is ruined. We now fight in front of the child, this is so very wrong but he is a mean nasty tempered man. Now I'm stuck because I don't have a car (broke down and junked)of my own,  fiance sells cars but will not give me nor sell me one we live 20 miles from anything. I am verbally assaulted daily. moral of the story is, be very very careful whom you trust. Now I'm stuck, homeless without this nightmare relationship and I do have some savings but not much. Any advice? Does anyone have a place I can move into with  my grandchild. I am desperat

For the first time, I'm checking out this forum. Because I am carless and impoverished, I have few friends and I am profoundly lonely. A person who is kind and compassionate is me. I have a great adult daughter whom I hardly see, and I am a talented writer who loves animals. I also love to read.I do not like drama and I do not cause poblems. I simply need a buddy at this time; my roommate is a living, breathing nightmare; he is an alcoholic and gaslighter (I just learned what this means). Much obliged for taking the time to read my post!

Hi, I have 3 cats and a stray who stops by sometimes. I live in Tucson, Arizona, and am a retired teacher. I don't think of myself as a teacher, though, and haven't stepped foot in a classroom since I retired 4 years ago. I like reading and gardening. I majored in Painting and Drawing, but now I'm doing pottery. I enjoy going to art openings and craft festivals. Right now, I'm reading, "The New Tourist" by Paige McClanahan. It discusses the "Hippie Trail", which I caught the tail end of, after Iran put an end to the "Magic Bus". I tried a couple of cruises, but would never again participate in that awful, environment-destroying industry again. If there is anyone out there who can relate to me, I would love to hear from you. I don't know how this works so I'll just introduce myself and hopefully find friendships. My name is Delores, I live in Bensalem P. A. I don't know many people here was born and raised in NYC. Trying to break free from being an introvert and mix and mingle and learn how to embrace making it to my sixties. I still work but I want to enjoy the rest of my life as well, live, love, and be happy.  Iam 70 and left my husband 3 months ago filing for a divorce. I own 51 % of our business married for 15 years. Iam looking for someone who likes to have coffee long distance! Or grab a salad long distance tell me about your day your cats your grand children. Give me encouragement so I can get this divorce over! I use to have girl time with friends they have passed on and now I am alone. How about It? Have Coffee?

 Live in California and this year is truly hot! 103 Inland Valley. We have not had a lot of fires as in the past so grateful for that.  Tomorrow my little granddaughter turns 6 and my son and I are taking her to Disneyland she is so excited. I have my umbrella, sunscreen, spray bottle, mosquito spray and my visor,. Renting a scooter at my age it really helps.  Have a Great Day! S.  

Good morning to all-I am an AARP member along with my wife. We are retired schoolteachers- I spent nearly forty years in front of various classes from kindergarten to college levels.For the past twenty or so years I have been a writer for various outdoor and rural living magazines, and when I'm not sitting in front of this screen typing and scratching a cat's ears, I will be outside either working in the garden, fishing from my kayak or flying one of my little radio-controlled airplanes or drones.I was on another senior-oriented forum for a while, but the politics and the heated and usually vitriolic nature of that place persuaded me to find another place to go and read about what's going on in the world. I hope this forum is more civilized.I live on the Gulf Coast of Alabama, and I must say that we missed the effects of Hurricane Francine- and glad I am to say that.I look forward to conversing with you all here. you all be safe and keep well- Ed
