Estranged Children

Back in 2013, my eldest, a daughter, chose to not have any contact with me. I never understood why until lately. I will not go into details. I have attempted to reconnect with her over the years, but have been rebuffed. Have any of you had similar family situations? She will be 49 this December and I will be 76 in February. Given my age, there is not much time left to reconcile. Is there any Hope? I certainly don't think so.

    I am so very sorry you are walking this path. You are NOT alone in this pain. I too have been shut out of some of my children's lives. I have 6, 1 is no contact and 2 others a low, very low contact. The other 3 seem ok. 2 live out of state and the 3rd one lives about 15 minutes from me. 

    There are some GREAT podcasts and tic tok videos about this very subject.

    You are important and keep the door open but quit chasing. If grandchildren are involved, send them funny cards, jokes and what you have been up to. Make it age appropriate. Kids of any age love getting mail.

    This is a shared problem with more families than you think. Some are of the belief that todays  counseling has caused more harm than good. 

    Please find another way to share you love, volunteer at a pet rescue, elementary school or senior center. You have value even though you don't feel it...so get out there and share it!!
