AARP Help

 I signed up with The Hartford AARP because of AARP.  I have auto and homeowners.  Unfortunately, the condo I rent in Michigan has had more than one water damage since I've had the Hartford Renter's insurance.  The Hartford has only given me the run around.  The home has been deemed uninhabitable and The Hartford has failed to reimburse one dollar.  I amount almost $20,000.00 staying at hotels and other additional living expenses and the Hartford has not paid anything.  I've reached out to AARP in the past to no avail.   Please help - this is a scam!

What is up with AARP?  They used to have great customer service, but now they treat you like a thief.  We all know the games don't always work as they are supposed to & don't give us the promised points.  Customer Service used to manually give us points.  Now, they're saying the points are a "bonus" & basically, tough if you don't get them.  Wrong.  I've invested time & I want the points.  I use those points to either buy things or for sweepstakes.  So, I do feel like I'm the one from whom something is being stolen.  I've really had it.  Will NOT be renewing my subscription.  Not worth the hassle.

We got our auto coverage through Hartford and thought maybe we should bundle our home as well. However, after answering all the questions over the phone, I received a letter stating that Hartford is "unable to provide coverage for our property because the amount of coverage we would need does not meet their eligibility requirements". (I think the replacement cost of our home is too high. We bought our home a long time ago and property values in our area have just gone crazy.) I guess I understand, but it is really disappointing.

I am on medicare. I am thinking about United Healthcare. I was told an option is Optimum. Except I looked it up and it's prescription only.  I am looking for insurance. While obtaining my Quote for Auto Insurance from Hartford I was given the option to save money by enrolling in TrueLane, an App that monitors and scores your driving performance for safety. You obtain the discount immediately and it is adjusted later for unsafe driving scores if necessary. To register on the App you must wait for Hartford to issue you a code or something like that. I contacted their service twice asking for the information and never received what I needed to register on the TrueLane App. About one month later I got a bill for $65 which is the same as the proposed discount I would've received. The bill did have a note that I would be canceled if unpaid. I tried once more to get them to help me register but no response. After I returned home after a 2-week trip I opened a letter from Hartford. This letter was written in all CAPS sounding curt and angry informing me my Auto policy has been CANCELED and was effective 8 days ago. So, I was driving my car Uninsured for six d

Used an AARP sponsored insurance for my new motorcycle. Just found out that Foremost Insurance charged me for coverage I didn't ask for or need. Total for this scam $500. I'm getting back $114 for unused coverage, but how does AARP protect seniors-they don't. Discussed this with AARP to no avail. BEWARE! AARP is not on your side!!!I also dropped United Health sponsored by AARP, another scam. PS, they pay their top brass millions to cook up wallet draining schemes-don't fall for it!!! RR

A long time ago I unsubscribed from emails about AARP Rewards. They were a complete waste of my time.But today (12/5/25) I just received an email, Subject: Your AARP Rewards Account SummaryWhat is going on behind the scenes to keep telling me about Rewards?Note: I have a zero balance.

Our AARP membership is under my husband's name and I am an additional member. I have my own user ID and login under his account but then why does his name appear on my screen? It says "Hi, [husband's name] when I believe it should show my name since I do have a profile. I'd like to have my own identity even if it's a shared account!

The game site has a lot of glitches. For being a paid member, I would not expect to not be able to use the skip button when it appears on ads. The “Daily Crossword” has performance issues. The puzzle clues, across and down, will sometimes be side by side, and other times it will be listed under each other. If you close the iPad, the puzzle will not save and wipes everything off. So frustrating! On Word Wipe, often times it will end the puzzle when the game is not over. 

I don't know if AARP can help me but at least I can get my experience with Budget car rental out to AARP members. I used the AARP discount to rent a car from Budget in Asheville NC. One of their employees made a mistake when I returned the car and it got registered as being returned to a different airport. This quadrupled my charges. The manager at the budget Car rental agency admitted their employee made a mistake and in fact had done it three additional times that morning. I have made 10 phone calls and sent 10 emails with multiple documents in an attempt to have a refund of all the excessive charges. The manager admitted they made a mistake and she would correct the rental but somehow, she wasn't able to issue the refund. The customer service department at Budget has been horrible and to date they Haven't issued my refund. I would highly recommend AARP members avoid Budget and I would hope that AARP reevaluate its association with such a poor performing company.

Smart strategies for caregiving finances BROKEN still. it has been over 8 hours and still Domino GC broken even after watching videos multiple times. States you have already watched videos but the pop up window to CLAIM Domino GC is broken and only has the word TEST on it. Looks like 19 others have also commented on this issue on lesson page.  Update- still broken on Dec 01 @ 1:46 pm. Videos show 300 point value now instead of 600 points, but anyone who did videos earlier shows video completed already but does not allow to redeem with points. Still unable to receive credit for viewing videos and to redeem for Domino GC. Also the word 'TEST' has been removed on the pop up page where the word "CLAIM' should be. Hi.  I'm astonished that I can't find an option to opt out of the printed magazine and bulletin.  Please point me to how to do this if I've missed it.  If I can't do this for myself, please fix this for me AND put in a feature request to make this an option members can choose for themselves.  I would be very disappointed in AARP's level of environmental consciousness if this isn't already an option, and will re-evaluate my desire to continue as a member if it doesn't become an option.  Thanks.  --Robert

Where is the Voice of AARP on electronic scooters. In our building of 118 senior units, every resident has a horror story.  We cannot walk out the front door without being hit by or terrified by a passing scooter.  Despite presence of special bike/scooter lanes, we have counted as many as 11 scooters on our side of the sidewalk in a single minute. Even if a scooter rider wanted to stop, they cannot in a reasonable distance, and frankly, some treat it as a game--whack an old person.  Those in wheelchairs or walkers cannot use the sidewalk due to parked or turned over scooters. This problem is getting worse and worse.  Orthopedists, Pediatricians, and ER Physicians are warning the public about this problem.  Where is AARP?

! received an email today from "Member Info Center" over a huge AARP logo promising a free health monitoring kit worth $350! "As a gesture of our appreciation, we are pleased to award you a Health Monitoring Kit worth $350. Thank you for your continued trust and engagement." Even though I know nothing is free, it seemed like a no strings-attached membership benefit for a blood pressure monitor and other devices shown in the photo. So I clicked on the link.  Surprise! Under an AARP logo, the text tells me to "complete a quick survey for a chance to receive a Health Monitoring Kit... Rewards are limited." One on hand, the email is no worse than a million other fraudulent phishing bait-and-switch scams. But this one purports to be from AARP.
