Lighthouses of the world

The 1903, Chance Brothers built, South Mole breakwater lighthouse at the entrance to Fremantle Harbour in Western Australia. Sadly, her original 4th Order fresnel lens now replaced by a modern LED unit.

Souter Lighthouse and the Tyneside Coast

Standing proud atop the cliffs near Whitburn, Souter Lighthouse was the first in the world purpose-built to be powered by electricity. Its iconic red and white stripes are instantly recognisable, a beacon of maritime heritage along the Tyneside coast. Built in 1871 to protect ships from the dangerous rocks below, it remains one of the North East’s most loved landmarks.

This view stretches south along the coast, with the dramatic Marsden cliffs and the curve of the shoreline leading your eye all the way to the faint silhouette of St Mary’s Lighthouse in the distance. Crystal-clear skies, calm waters, and a slice of industrial history watching over the waves.

Dondra Head Lighthouse

The famous lighthouse walk from the movie Forest Gump, Marshall Point Lighthouse in Port Clyde, Maine.

Visitors walking the beach at the restored Pelee Island Light, Ontario, Canada on Lake Erie. This old lighthouse was built in 1833, first lit in the spring of 1834, and discontinued in 1909.
