DAILY QUOTES II
Was very excited to see the movie change not charity offered for free with aarp. First got a message a must use safari. Check. Then got a message i was unable to use mirroring from my phone to my apple TV. Check. Airplay didn’t work despite multiple attempts. So not getting to see movie. Blame aarp for making it so technically difficult
The average American will own somewhere between 8-10 cars during their lifetime. Of the cars you have owned during your lifetime, what was your favorite? And, on the other side of the coin, what car left you the most disappointed?
Judging from past AARP articles such as: "6 WAYS TO KEEP YOUR PET SAFE WHILE DRIVING""HOW TO KEEP YOUR PET HEALTHY FOR LESS MONEY""TO THE RESCUE: SAVING ANIMALS FROM DISASTER ZONES" It becomes clear that AARP cares more for animals than it does for our fellow human beings. Why do I say this, you might ask? Because AARP seems to have restricted discussion of the caged human beings in the bug infested, tropical heat of Florida. Humans that are exposed to walking through their own and fellow caged individual's sewage. The ASPCA would not put up with those conditions for canines or felines. Judging from AARP'S defense of humane actions toward animals noted above VERSUS their restricted conversation of "man's inhumanity to man" in Florida can only lead one to conclude they care more for animals then our fellow human beings. This comment is not political in any way, shape, or form. It is the expression that no human being, regardless of who they are or wha
I would like to offer my thoughts and prayers for those affected by the flooding. I pray for those that lost loved ones, children and friends, also those missing. I pray God will be with them in their mourning and give them provision. The Bible tells us to be prepared because you never know when He might call your name. God bless you all🙏🌻
Amid all that's happening, to tune out stress, I find it both relaxing and enjoyable rewatching classic foreign films that are now available to stream. Among my favorites are: Cinema ParadisoBabetts FeastAu revoir les enfantsSeven SamuraiThe CounterfeitersThe Lives of OthersNowhere In Africa
Rod Serling was a genius writer of science fiction. His "twist at the end" of his stories are unmatched by today's writers. This weekend, one of our cable channels is having a Twilight Zone marathon. Between the marathon and thinking about Rod Serling, I thought about what was my favorite "twist at the end". Here goes.....Hint: A decoding translator runs to stop her co-worker from boarding an alien spaceship screaming......."TO SERVE MAN"......."IT'S, IT'S A COOKBOOK". But it is too late........... Makes you hungry, doesn't it? What is YOUR favorite Twilight Zone "twist at the end".
When you aren't having to listen to commercials about hearing aids, drugs for the elderly(me included), or automobiles.....there are some funny ones out there. Many of the funniest are pretty aged themselves by now. My two favorites are(1) K-Mart's "I SHIPPED MY PANTS" commercial. I about did what you think they said when I heard that commercial the first time. You can google "kmart shipped my pants commercial" and get to it.(2) The second funniest commercial was a Japanese commercial for bath soap. It has a communal bath of young boys washing themselves with this bath soap with military type music in the background, when they finish, they turn around and stare at the camera and there is a surprise ending that will make you laugh out loud as we say today( I will give you a hint: It has to do with water and bubbles in the water) . Google classic Shiseido Soap commercial.
Anyone have this problem?Moved into new apartment and need a few things. Problem is much furniture needs assembly and most places no longer offer this service - even when you're willing to pay to have it done. They just drop ship to your address - no unpacking, no carrying it into your home - nada!Hiring someone poses another problem: If that person doesn't do it correctly or damages it, you have no real recourse since the worker is not a store employee.Since I have no children and am new to this area I have no circle of friends to help.I'm curious how others are handling similar situation? Thanks for any advice.
Hey Folks, How are we going to know what is real? Was what I just wrote…was it written by a machine? Is the movie star on screen real or an image generated by a machine? Will the images on our newscasts be true to reality? Will war be fought through analysis by humans or machine? Scary!!!
Veterans without a home, hungry children, hungry seniors, citizens without medical care, all noble places toward which the rich can direct their riches to make life better for another human being. But what do they spend their money on? A STUPID YACHT BIGGER THAN EVERY OTHER PERSON'S YACHT Spending upwards of $400,000,000 to as much as $4,800,000,000, these people are nothing but narcissists whose main goal is to outdo their contemporaries. Imagine what good that kind of money would do if re-directed to help those in need. MAYBE THOSE WHO PAY FOR THESE YACHTS SHOULD BE REQUIRED TO CONTRIBUTE TO THE CHARITY OF THEIR CHOICE IN A LIKE AMOUNT OF MONEY AS PART OF THE PURCHASE PRICE OF THE YACHT BEFORE THEY CAST OFF
I was trying to post a reply to the Front Porch - June 2025 thread, when I got the message Access Denied. When I went back, I saw the thread/subject was gone, disappeared, nada, like it never existed. Glitch? Or just permanently deleted?

Veterans without a home, hungry children, hungry seniors, citizens without medical care, all noble places toward which the rich can direct their riches to make life better for another human being. But what do they spend their money on? A STUPID FLIGHT TO SPACE Spending upwards of $250,000 to $10,000,000 to as much as $55,000,000, these people are nothing but narcissists feeding their own personal desires. Imagine what good that kind of money would do if it were re-directed to help those in need. MAYBE THOSE WHO PAY FOR THESE TRIPS SHOULD BE REQUIRED TO CONTRIBUTE TO THE CHARITY OF THEIR CHOICE IN A LIKE AMOUNT OF MONEY BEFORE THEY BLAST OFF
Would you want to do this? Sign me up ! Is there an age requirement to be young?
I sure though tarheel had a good one going. My computer didn't pick up the post that they said got it tossed. If anyone thought any of that was bad, well, don't come to our house for Thanksgiving Dinner.
Something to think about as we sip our coffee - I am curious what people think of Daylight Savings Time - Should it be made permanent or do we keep doing this "fall back / spring forward" every year. I have a (rather old) "bird clock" and in order to keep the bird sounds correct, it is a big deal to change it twice a year or else I have one of the owls belching out whippoorwill songs - have to do it right or it gets really messed up. This year in March the Senate passed "The Sunshine Protection Act" (bipartisan) a move that could make daylight saving time permanent in 2023, but the bill hasn’t been voted on by the House. The way it goes, as I understand it, is that various states can approve making DST permanent, as many have, but until it is passed by Federal legislatures, it is only a paper thing. This link gives many of the pros and cons of leaving DST in place all year - it also has numbers on how many Americans feel about it. &n

Happy Earth Day! As an original participant in 1970, I so appreciate the founders and the hope and mission! Thank you to all who still consider this important!
Warren Buffett, "I could end the deficit in 5 minutes," he told CNBC. "You just pass a law that says that anytime there is a deficit of more than 3% of GDP, all sitting members of Congress are ineligible for re-election. The 26th amendment (granting the right to vote for 18 year-olds) took only 3 months & 8 days to be ratified! Why? Simple! The people demanded it. That was in 1971 ... before computers, e-mail, cell phones, etc. Of the 27 amendments to the Constitution, seven (7) took 1 year or less to become the law of the land ... all because of public pressure. I am asking each addressee to forward this email to a minimum of twenty people on their address list; in turn ask each of those to do likewise. In three days, most people in The United States of America will have the message. This is one idea that really should be passed around. *Congressional Reform Act of 2025* 1. No Tenure / No Pension. A Congressman collects a salary while in office and receives no pay w
Down here in my neck of the woods it is making a lot of people uncomfortable. March came in like the lion and for a few days in the middle the lamb showed up. But the lion came back to end March and start April. The April showers that people talk about ain't showers. It's more like "Get to Noah's boat shop in a hurry."
