Music

I found this today and thought "hmmm..." then remembered when Mom forced ugly permed hair on me in mid- late-60s... So let's discuss bad/ugly stuff from our childhood we'd NEVER force on our kids or grandkids... "Time After Time" interview: Cyndi Lauper on hairstyle in her early in life,,,

Thanksgiving is less than three weeks away.Songs about turkey, potatoes, pie or whatevermeans Thanksgiving to you. Either in the titleor in the lyrics. Let’s have fun!I’ll start with:  Cold Turkey    John Lennon

For me it would have to be James Taylor, at Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Colorado, recently. I don’t think anything will ever top that entire experience!  😀  Billy Joel, as well as Bruce, would be next on my list of concerts that I’ve been to that were absolutely fantastic.      Any concert that tops your list, or one you hope to go to?

My mom is moving this weekend, as she says for the last time, by choice, to a wonderful independent living community, I thought I might explore moving through song, creating a playlist of songs with the word Move or Moving in their title. Some moving song greats include Billy Joel’s “Movin’ Out,” UB40 or Bob Marley’s “Keep On Moving,” George Thorogood’s “Move It On Over,” Celine Dion’s “Love Can Move Mountains,” Carole King’s “I Feel The Earth Move,” James Taylor’s “Something In The Way She Moves,” Bob Seger’s “Night Moves,” and Maroon 5’s “Moves Like Jagger.” Then there are several that want to actually make us get up and move, perhaps to the beat of the song, including “Move Ya Body,” “Move Your Feet,” “I Like To Move It,” “The Way You Move,” and maybe the song that started such songs, “Bust A Move.” https://listentothemusicblog.com/movin-out-move-s-moving-songs/

We haven't done Halloween themes in a while. There are favorites, from "Monster Mash" to "Thriller". There are some music videos with a spooky theme that may or may not have anything to do with the song. Some are quite a production. Some are funny. Some instrumentals are quite spooky. So, have fun posting the music videos, or instrumentals or just the songs.  This is one of those videos that have nothing to do with the song, but it's a lot of fun.The guys transform into a Werewolf, a Phantom of the Opera, a Jekyll & Hyde, a Dracula and a Mummy.   Everybody (Backstreet Boys are Back) - Backstreet Boys (1997)

As promised in my Run for the ROSES and Good HORSES blog, and in honor of the National Day of the Cowboy, I’m sharing my playlist “Like A COWBOY” highlighting songs featuring Cowboy in the title. National Day of the Cowboy is celebrated on the fourth Saturday in July, falling on July 26th this year (2025). It’s a day to honor the contributions and spirit of cowboys and to preserve the pioneer heritage of the American West and cowboy culture. My inspiration for the playlist was listening to Ashley McBryde’s “Aint Enough Cowboy Songs.” Not that I ever need a reason to explore music, it prompted me to determine if there was any truth to the premise. And lo and behold, I think there are plenty of Cowboy songs. But in the spirit of her assertion, I think there perhaps can never be enough Cowboy song, no matter how many are written and sung. Some of my favorites include Toby Keith’s “Should’ve Been A Cowboy,” Big & Rich’s “Save A Horse (Ride A Cowboy),” Garth Brooks’ “Good Ride

The official first day of summer is here, and it's time to kick the season into high gear with AARP's Summer Music Playlist of 20 songs that have summertime and long, lazy days at their heart.   What songs would you add to the playlist?

Or lyric. ☺ [words are: miss, missed, missing]Hi. Here's my pick:  The Comsat Angels - Missing In Action

His best satirical song was NATIONAL BROTHERHOOD WEEK. Go to YouTube and listen to it.  It is amazing how, 50 years later, the lyrics still apply.

Connie Francis, Peter Yarrow, Marianne Faithfull, Sly Stone, Bobby Sherman, Sam Moore, Roberta Flack, Brian Wilson and barely half the year is gone and we can already start a choir of those we have lost. With all the singers presently in their eighties and beyond(you keep going, Willie)...I suspect that this choir will grow every year at a faster and faster pace.

Connie Francis (born Concetta Rosa Maria Franconero) left us 17, July, 2025 at the age of 87. Her songs led "Pop" and she forged the way for generations of female stars! Thank you, Lady! "Everybody's Somebody's Fool" - Connie Francis

This should be interesting. In essence, songs with 'Living' or 'Alive' in the title. Can be lyrical as well.  Thanks, everyone!  🙂 I will begin with: The Kinks - Living on a Thin Line'Tell me now, what are we supposed to do?'

Back to The Beginning - Birmingham, England - 05-Jul-2025  I so wish I could be there, but monetarily and physically can't. Hoping for live stream (like Live Aid). Please sign this petition is you want that, too? Change dot org Petition for a livestream of The Black Sabbath Back to the Beginning Concert Event

Up or Down in title and/or lyric. Which direction will you choose?  (>ᴗ•) Here's mine: RATT - Lay It Down

Let's measure with the scale of it, 'Want' or 'Need', where one outweighs the other. 😉 In title, or lyrical. I will start with: Ramones - We Want The Airwaves

July 2nd is the 183rd day of the year, or 184th day during a leap year. It marks the halfway point of the year, with noontime being the exact halfway point in a non-leap year, and midnight serving as the halfway point of a leap year. It lends itself to today’s playlist, and eclectic mix of songs featuring the word half in their title. A Soundgarden song (R.I.P. Chris Cornell, a musical genius lost way too soon) lends the title of the blog. Some great half songs include several mega-hits, including Crystal Gayle’s “Half the Way,” Kenny Loggins’ “Meet Me Halfway,” John Mayer’s “Half of My Heart,” Billy Joel’s “Half a Mile Away,” Styx’ “Half Penny, Two Penny,” Wilson Picket’s “A Man and a Half” and “Ninety-Nine and One-Half (Won’t Do)” with CCR covering the same song, Lifehouse’s “Halfway Gone,” Patsy Cline and Ray Charles offering “Half As Much,” Keith Urban’s “You’re My Better Half,” One Direction’s “Half a Heart,” and Jelly Roll’s “Halfway to Hell.” So you’re halfway through

Here's an example:  Sheila by Tommy RoePretty simple!

I will begin: Radiohead - There, There  Lyric OK too. 🙂

Can’t believe we haven’t had this song topic before, but I did a search, and it came up empty. List any songs (title or lyrics) about friends or friendship, being a friend, etc. We should know a lot of these. The song title that serves as the topic title was written by Burt Bacharach & Carole Bayer Sager. It was first recorded in 1982: That’s What Friends Are For, Rod Stewart  But the better known version was the one released in 1985 by Dionne Warwick, Elton John, Gladys Knight, and Stevie Wonder.. It was released as a charity single to raise money for AIDS research and awareness. The song hit #1 in 1986, and raised more than $3m. It also won a couple of Grammys, including Song Of The Year. That’s What Friends Are For, Dionne Warwick & Friends

Happy New Year, Rock 'n' Rollers! Thought it might be fun to start the new year off with a new song topic - Songs That Ask A Question. I don't believe we've had this one before, or at least I don't recall it. So for 2018, how many song titles can we find that ask a question.

[It's all @MaVolta's fault! 😂] Songs with 'Can,' or 'Can't' in title/lyric. I will begin with...  The Cure - Why Can't I Be You?

I love the night. It's so quiet, nobody is around. The night birds chirp outside my window. A lovely sound. Although, the cars are terribly loud. The trains...exhilarating. Echo, echo, echo. The mystery of night. Make a careful wish, on the first star you see. Please post your favorite songs that pertain to the 'Night.' In title or lyrical.  I will begin with:  Mr. Gnome - Night of The Crickets  Thank you! 🙂

With our earth on the precipice of worldwide conflict, it came to mind that songs relating to war and conflict could end up being a huge list. I'll start the list with: EVE OF DESTRUCTION- Barry McGuire- 1965

This easy topic simply invites everyone to think of and then post the name of a song which includes any body part in the title of the song.  Also, please post songs and/or song names about anything we may wear on our bodies. Please try to include the artist's name if you know who did it, thanks. There's seemingly a vast array of songs which qualify to be posted here. And if you repeat what someone has already posted.....so what   🙂 Have fun coming up with songs for this topic.
