FAVORITE MALE SINGERS OF ANY GENRE

Sadly, I never got
to appreciate Kurt Cobain until after his death.  Since we
were talking about David Bowie before that brought to mind
Kurt's rendition of David's "The Man Who Sold the World".

He made a lot of people happy with his music; sadly could not do the same for himself I guess.  I love that "unplugged" video of Kurt playing but sometimes I can barely stand to watch him do that last song.

Hi Diane,

You are so much like me it's unreal.  I have to find my picture of my cubicle on Valentine's Day.  I made red and pink hearts and then used white doily paper and put pics of Jon Bon Jovi in the middle.  He was all over my cubicle.  I'll post it when I find it.

we?  Who are your favorite male singers of any
genre?  I'm not talking bands here but solo artists.  Of
course, if they were in a band and also went solo you can still name
them such as Jon Bon Jovi or Richie Sambora both of whom are members
of the group Bon Jovi but have also gone solo.  Here's some of
mine from times past to the present:

Frank Sinatra,
Perry Como, Dean Martin, Brook Benton, Jerry Butler, Conway Twitty,
Johnny Cash, Charley Pride, Johnny Tillotson, Donovan,
Eddie Cochran, Gene McDaniels, Glen Yarborough, Neil Young, Bob

Today it reminded me of Wilson Pickett who belongs here.  His songs were dancing songs!!!!

I know what you
mean.  It's so sad to have lost someone so young and with so
much talent.  On a lighter note has anyone mentioned "Van
Morrison"?  This guy has so many great songs many of which
have been used in movies.  One of my favorites is "Into
the Mystic".

Well, Diane if they loved music as much as we do they'd be happy too!  Everyone at work use to think I was pretty crazy too but I sure brought them plenty of laughs in a sometimes stressful environment and I know that helped them get through many tough days.

Wilson Pickett had some of the greatest songs to get up and dance to of all time.  I remember going to school dances and whenever you heard "Land of a 1000 Dances" you couldn't help but get up and dance.  Another great memory is from the movie "The Great Outdoors" with John Candy and Dan Aykroyd at the end where they are dancing to this great song.

I have always loved Mick Jagger.  There is just something about him.  Call it animal magnetism or something but he's great.  Saw him and the Stones in Chicago on the Licks tour 2002/2003 and that dude can rock.  As I said before quoting Gilda Radner "Give me Mick, give me Mick, rock and roll me til you make me sick."  LOL

Pitney was also a highly regarded songwriter -- he wrote the Crystals' No. 1 hit, "He's a Rebel," Rick Nelson's smash "Hello Mary Lou" and Bobby Vee's "Rubber Ball." Some of his own hits, though -- "Only Love," "Liberty Valance" and "Tulsa" -- were written by Burt Bacharach and Hal David.

Gene was also a very nice guy.  Saw him at Summerfest here in Milwaukee and he threw an autographed picture out into the audience and I caught it right up against my face.  I'll never forget it.  Great songs and good memories that's what it's all about.
