omg, the Kansas CIty Chiefs are going to Super Bowl NOLA! I can't even begin to write how proud I am of them, even though I've been removed from KC for decades; Chiefs and Royals will always be my Teams, forever....

As the year starts to wind down, 'National Whiners Day' on December 26th allows an opportunity to complain about just roughly anything. If you want, you are allowed to whine about being too tired, or overeating. Maybe you want to whine about having to go back to work or all the cleaning up you have to do. Are the lines long in the return aisle at the store? You can whine about that, too. The possibilities are endless. However, two essential parts of the day to remember are: (¬⤙¬ )  No whining about what you did not get for Christmas, or do not have, and remember what you do have.(¬⤙¬ )  Many people are less fortunate than others. Some are struggling to put food on the table or a roof over their heads. Others have no family or friends. Families without a single gift under the tree may simply be thankful to have each other. Houseplants? They're my special friends. I have a zillion of them (mostly spider and cacti). And, a room dedicated to only them, a room known as a... 'Sunroom.' Hello,  I'm new here and jumping right in because I'm so excited about finding a community of people online over the age of 30 for freaking sake.  I'm involved in another forum, which I do enjoy as it is centered around a shared interest, but there are literally about four, four people in my age group.  (I'm 57)Anyway, on that forum we play some interactive word games that are easy and fun, "keep-you-involved" icebreakers.One of them is to state in one word how you are feeling that particular day - what kind of day you're having.  Like, I might say, "unmoored," or whatever, etc. and others respond with their own single words. Or, there is a similar game wherein a person uses a meme or image to describe their feelings that day.Also, there is the one everybody knows that starts with one word and each person adds a word at a time, creating a story.And, there are the synonym / antonym games, which are pretty self-explantory.  There can be two; each using only

I recently went to see *Wicked* at the cinema. Having never seen the Broadway show, and having not grown up hearing the music, all the songs were new to me. I found it extremely hard to understand the lyrics, and I found my enjoyment diminished by not being able to understand how the singing was responding to the ongoing narrative. This caused me to wonder, WHY can't cinemas project closed captions on the screen, like is normally done for foreign films or like one can chose to do privately at home. I consider this a basic matter of ACCESSIBILITY to make the movie more enjoyable for a broader audience, and more users would be helped than annoyed. (BTW, I'm suggesting captions for all movies, not just musicals.) I mean, EVERYBODY is accustomed to closed captions these days: they're on in my barber shop, at my car repair shop, in the doctor's waiting room, etc. My grandchildren have them on ALL the time on YouTube and Spotify (to see song lyrics), so this issue might be something that Sen

 December 7 is 'National Slime Day' at National Day Calendar and things are about to get slippery for the rest of the day. Today's National Day celebrates the slimy, slippery, and squishy pop culture goo that has been engaging kids (and adults) in play since the 1970s. Slime seems to capture the curiosity of children everywhere.  'Bathtub Party Day' encourages us all to skip the ordinary shower and linger in the tub instead. On December 5th, add some suds to the tub and pamper yourself. A bathtub party sounds suspiciously like a crowded affair, but it doesn't have to be. Granted, if you have young children, it's a time saver to plunk two or three of them in the tub at once. Getting them all suds up and playing with the water toys are some of the more memorable times raising children. It also saves water while everyone has some good clean fun. For the adults, the benefits of a quiet soak in the tub add up quickly. A steamy bath during cold and flu season helps to clear our sinuses and improve our oxygen intake. It also increases our circulation. The warm water reduces inflammation, easing achy joints and sore muscles. It also helps relieve stress. Dropping temperatures outside mean cold hands and feet, or just a chilled body in general. A soak in a warm tub warms us right up. 

'National Sock Day' on December 4th recognizes the rarest of all lasting unities, the marriage of matched socks. When they find each other, wash after wash, dry after to dry, it's time to celebrate! The founders of the celebration turned the tables on other sock holidays. Such individualism generated was out of control. Days like National No Sock Day on May 8th and National Lost Sock Day (for shame!) on May 9th were rebels. To promote lasting sock matches, the observance dedicated the day to all pairs, even the tiny baby socks who manage to stay paired. We don't know if it's animal magnetism (static cling) or chemistry (something in the detergent), but these sock pairs deserve recognition! The day honors all matches made in laundromantic-matrimony. We will turn no color, style, or size away. So, Argyle to tube socks, knee highs, and fuzzy slipper socks - if they keep finding their mate over and over, this National Day wiggles its toes in their honor! HOW TO OBSERVE
