Question

What gift cards are impacted by the statement on the website?

I’m seeing a statement regarding redeemed gift cards being restored.

What does this mean?  Does it refer to recently redeemed but not received cards?

I am sure hoping it doesn’t mean cards we have in our possession but have not yet used.

@AARPTeri  Can you explain, please?

My Walmart gift cards from Nov 1st have no barcodes on them. I hope they are correcting this. The statement on the website is rather vague, it would be helpful if there was a better explanation.

Maria @MariaK113398 , I am wondering IF it is just Walmart that was affected? Hopefully AARP Teri @AARPTeri responds. 🤞 My Staples has a BARCODE. I finally "checked" yesterday. Someone had posted that Walmart has TRAINED their cashiers on how to "work around" this mess.

@SummerOnTheWay1   I always use my Walmart ones at the selfcheckout.  It’s been surprisingly easy after years of tough times in the lines redeeming them.  Sure hope my Penney’s one is okay.  Will  have to go check now.

EDIT:  Just checked.  No bar code on the Penney’s one, either.  I can’t recall if the older ones had one or not.  I did learn the hard way that the newer Penney’s ones have longer pins than the old ones and only the new pads at the stores can register them.   A manager called headquarters and found that out after I stood for quite some time angering the people behind me in line.   Was able to redeem after switching to a new register.
