⛽️ What Are You Paying At The Pump? Any TIPS To Save On Gas?

[Tuesday 9/22/26 6:20am ET]

I was in SHOCK yesterday when I happen to "glance" at the Kroger Gas Prices as I headed into store to get my Weekly Groceries.

Lol, trying to HOLD ONTO the half tank I now have.

Back BEFORE Gas prices started upward, I would Gas up once a month when I received my Monthly Retirement Social Security.

Now I am staying home & driving ONLY as required (food, medical).

Geez, are we stuck with NEVER seeing "lower" Gas prices? 🤔 I feel once the wars go away (if they ever), YES!!!

I am SAVING as mentioned above by staying home but TOTALLY BORED & really struggling with having to do this in my Retirement. But have NO interest in getting behind on things like rent, electric, car insurance and so on.

One TIP I read over the years is to COMBINE your errands when you can.

Another TIP I saw online was to LIGHTEN your load. I was "guilty" of carrying around stuff in my trunk I had forgotten about. The ONLY time I ADD anything to my vehicle is during Winter. Got to be able to either "dig out" or "wait for" my State Farm Roadside Assistance to arrive. Hope to NEVER be stuck. Too old to be out there "freezing" my a.s off. 😉

(1) How are you SAVING ON GAS? 🤔

(2) What are you PAYING at the gas pump? 🤔

Thanks,

@WonderOne , good to know. I have NEVER used them. Before Kroger, it was Sheetz here in Virginia.

There is not a Kroger Store near my location. But I will check them out on my next trip out of state.

@WonderOne , if you know someone who shops at a Kroger, you can use their Loyalty Card or Phone Number to get up to $1 off EACH gallon of gas. I don't buy alot from them (live alone), but appreciate the 30 to 40 cents discount I get. Now I have a neighbor with a large family who gets the $1 off gas every time. Points do expire. For example, I have to use my October points by November 30th. My neighbor has offered her "surplus" points as she NEVER uses them all before they expire.

California prices seems to be a lot higher than most of the U.S.  Paid $6.29 per gallon for regular, and diesel price is $8.95 per gallon.

This is from the AARP Article AARP Jen @Jen told us about below (she posted a link). I had this happen when I had just started driving. It was a VERY EXPENSIVE "issue" to fix. I will ADD, use gas stations that are popular so gas does NOT "sit" in the UNDERGROUND tank = frequent gas deliveries. This is what happened with me. I use to pull over wherever I was to refill. Now I stick to ONE Kroger gas station as I stay in town (old vehicle,2006 Honda CR-V). I refill at 1/2 tank.

➡️[*** 5. Maintain at least a quarter tank!
Don’t wait until your tank is close to empty before filling up. As you get near “E,” sediment in the bottom of the tank can build up and clog the fuel line, Sinclair says. Keeping it at least a quarter full can help prevent that.

Lol @dbm2 , I agree!!! 😂 At age 68 I am now staying home more & bored. I don't know how folks who still work can afford gas here where I live. We are on a hill, so no public transportation. But SO GRATEFUL rent is still reasonable. 🤞 So alot of people have lived here forever = can't beat FREE water - gas (furnace) & sewage. Alot of apartments now charge EXTRA for those. You get a SEPARATE bill. 😱

    Take care,

I too, find myself with those heavy loads that never seem to go away.  Just when you think you have cleaned the cobwebs-more junk in the trunk appears.  My gas price was $359.9 at Murphy yesterday when I topped off my half tank yesterday.  Have a great day!

@WonderOne , is that $3.59 & not $359.9? Thanks for sharing!!! Nicole (Friends & Family Forum)
