Walmart: possible fraud or scam issues

I have recently experienced two instances (in last two months) of orders being placed through my account, charged to my card.

The first time, it was for a pick-up, which I was able to cancel.

The second was for deliveries to addresses thousands of miles away, using different names but possibly mis-read to be mine.

Both instances for for hundreds of dollars.

Walmart assistance advised they would escalate to their cyber-security but advised I should change password and remove my payment method. I changed password but could not remove payment method (due to my membership in Walmart+).

While checking my account I found the fraudster added their address to my account, which indicates they had access to my account.

What puzzles me is of all my online accounts, ONLY EVER have I experienced this with Walmart.

Has anyone else had this happen with their Walmart account?

Thanks, Benjamin. I have contacted Walmart each time and monitor my account. With the second event I became very paranoid and am losing sleep over it (dreams show my bank account drained)...

I have been advised Walmart cybersecurity is investigating but connecting with any of the folks in that department is impossible.

Although now that I think about it, your reply makes me want to take them on so going for that!

Without knowing (or wanting to know) specific reasons for keeping the account active @WebWiseWoman :

Might it be time to ask the hard question, "Should I close and delete my Walmart Account?".

And, even harder, answer in the affirmative.

Great ?, Eric, and I should have included in original post; I joined Walmart+ when it originated, so I contacted them regarding moving my account to a new account with different email/log in information; they advised I could do that but because of my Walmart+ membership, I would still need to provide card info...

I also advised them the fraudulent attempts could only be internal-related due to multiple other membership accounts not being effected; I have not heard back from them as of yet regarding whether I can move my membership without providing charge info.

As this requires me to continue to monitor my account almost hourly for peace of mind, yes, if not resolved by eom, I'll take the hit for membership fees remaining.

I am not familiar with how the Walmart account works, but can you have the account without saving your credit card info? The downside would be the need to enter the info for each transaction but it is probably better than dealing with the fraud.

I can only speak for myself. And indeed I was scammed by Walmart. I ordered several things online from their store. After a few weeks I got a email saying my merchandise had arrived. They said they left it at my door however they did not. I wrote them back three emails telling them I did not receive it and they ignored every one of my letters. So finally I reported them to the BBB and made a complaint about them scamming me. I will never ever ever buy anything from Walmart again. They scammed me royally
