Good Thursday morning to everyone on the Front Porch! The best way to start your Thanksgiving Morning is with a mug of Thanks Giving Coffee.

    Happy Thanksgiving, Everyone!

@DaveMcK ...I have the same autumn leaf tablecloth!

Officially ushered in the holiday season by putting the poinsettia comforter and shams on my bed when I changed it today.

Best wishes to all of you for a safe, healthy, and enjoyable Thanksgiving!

Looks like the rain may have stopped. YAY!

I just had to share that I saw 3 more peppers growing on my pepper plants.  Unprecedented, we usually get frost at the end of October.   Winter coming in like a lion next week though.   I am taking it easy this Thanksgiving and not cooking!  Have plenty to eat and much to be thankful for.  Including my tumble down the basement stairs head first.  No injuries no bruising 😜.

Happy Thanksgiving to all on the front porch.

I am thankful to be here to celebrate in spite of a rough and tumble year.

(I'll let you know if there is another thing I will be grateful for right after the Football Team/Cowboys game this afternoon.  )

I will forgo the #opt[ing]outside at any state or national park on Black Friday, because of the bigger-than-usual crowds (looking to be a good outdoors-y day tomorrow), but that does not mean I won't be outside somewhere quiet and peaceful.

Here's to new traditions and a new future! 🥂

Good Wednesday afternoon to everyone on the Front Porch! We are being treated to clear skies and a high of 49 degrees today. Tomorrow will be partly cloudy and 43. Our Covid-19 new cases per day average for the last 7 days is 4413.

    Good morning, Peepers!

Well, it's Sunday and due to staying out much too late last night (I went to our annual drive--through Christmas lights display festival), I had quite a time getting up, dressed, up again (laid back down--a mistake) and out for work this morning.  But even though I'm not yet my perky self, I'm here now and ready to go.

It's very cold here, but the sun is out in full force, the sky is beautiful and the air is so crisp and clean and fresh.  The snowfall of last week is but a memory and the ground is dry.  So I'm hoping even at this late date that we will have one last warm up--enough so I can finish my yard clean up for the season.

I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday with good food, the company of loved ones, or the blessing of blissful solitude.  At least we can all yet say, "We's still here!"  Smile.

@LaDolceVita, I'm so sorry to read about your head-first tumble down the stairs.  I do hope you are alright today.  As I have said before,  going down my basement stairs is becoming a real chore for me what with my very achy and uncooperative hip joints.  No more bounding up and down the stairs like years ago. Now, it's hold the rail and the wall and watch as I take each step down and looking up to the landing as I make my  way back up--all the while saying to myself , "You can make it! Just a few steps more!"

Old age....?   It's a kick in the head and a pain in the butt.  But then what cha gonna do?  The alternative is just way, WAY too drastic!  lol  And so we just keep on keeping on.  Thank God for that!

Unfortunately,  I rushed outta the house so fast morning that I forgot my coffee which I had dutifully set up last night to perk this morning.  Only needed to press the button.  But I was running super late and I left without my caffeinated fortification.  I sure could use it right about now.  Droopy.

Anyway, I'm wishing each and everyone the bestest Sunday ever!

Be well, stay safe, and enjoy the remainder of the weekend.

    Lyds

Sunday 49* and sunshine, I think I’ve been gone, don’t recall anything so I must have had fun?

    @LydiaN586309

I still swear by my airpot, just dump a pot of coffee in it and 2-3 days later it’s still ready to go - hot coffee.

Bought mine in 2001, at CGXchange. Now available at Walmart.

    @LaDolceVita

Re:stairs added a second railing just in case for basement stairs 2x4 for vertical posts and 2x4 for railing with planed edges for round over.🤣 No splinters

With two layers of foam matting, and a scrap of 100oz carpet at the bottom landing. And a Wifi extender just in case , there also is a trimline phone in the corner.

Amazing what vertigo can do for CYA.

One more warm day , Monday promises rain, wind and power outages- guess what I’ll be doing for the next 3 hours🤣

    Froze

And yes, after long days/nights, I'd still like to swing these hunks of glass , plastic and silicon against the nearest wall Come on retirement!

    Hi there, Peeps!

Another nice day here. As Froze said, tomorrow brings rain, wind, thunderstorms...a real bag of ugly.

@LaDolceVita ...My heart goes out to you after that fall. I HATE the basement and have to go down there for the laundry. Inching my way down and practically crawling back up after I twisted my worst knee somehow a couple of weeks ago. I do have a railing on one side, and when I get down half way, there is a steel beam with a ledge I can use on the other side. Getting back up used to be easier when I had the laundry basket because I would put it on a step or two above me, lean on the basket like a walker and walk it and myself up the steps that way. Now it is iffy as I never know when my knee is going to pop. Until my stepson comes and helps me set up the new phones (I'll put an extension down in the basement) I have to remember to take my cell with me.

Next spring he is supposed to build a small addition so I can get the washer and dryer on this level! We'll see....

@LydiaN586309 ...I always wanted to go through one of those drive-through light displays, but figured I'd miss so much if I had to do the driving. LOL.

@Frozenoem ...Love that license plate! 😄

Time to go get more decorations from upstairs (at least I do have the chair glide for that level of the house).

My neighborhood is following the trend of decorating early this year, and I want to get anything I have to put outside done before bad weather hits.

    You all stay safe!

    Time for more coffee...

I've only got a little more time to say this (maybe... pending this afternoon and tomorrow night), but what a Thanksgiving!  Football Team beat the Cowboys 41-16, which put WFT on top in FIRST PLACE!

Bummer about everyone's travails with basement stairs (which are dangerous anyway).  You would hate my little house.  No basement, but a spiral staircase to the second level.  It really sucks in middle of night getting up out of bed (2nd floor) to pee with bathroom on 1st floor.

Almost December already.  Still got a long way to go, but things will get better next year.  I got this feeling.

Oh yes, @MsStretch! I'm with you on hopes that next year will be better!  And as for your spiral staircase and the bathroom being one floor down from the bedroom...?   Well, if it were me, I'd set up a potty chair right there in my bedroom; maybe on the farthest corner from my bed.  Cuz I assure you, when I have to go, "I HAFTA GO!"   And I just don't think I'd make downstairs in time.  Smile.

    Good Morning,

Well, it is sure looks like Old Man Winter is trying to push his way through. I suppose since it is December and 22 days till Christmas it is about time. Anyone decorating for the holiday? I am still on the fence since I have a kitten who loves playing with everything (all of my decorations are sentimental and can't be replaced).

       Stay warm and stay safe

38* and what else raining, watched my first sink hole collapse on the news at Sunday River Ski Resort last  night. Just up the road a bit.

Flooding on all rivers around state, power outages from wind and rain. Miss my snow, dang it.

Had a rabid animal put down by neighbor last night, that was a bit of a shock . One minute watching TV next, resounding crack of .30 outside my study window.

You may be new here in which case welcome, time to grab a calzone think I’m hungry.

I am new here, still finding my way around here. Decided to stay away from the political side of here. I am not thrilled with retirement, at least

    with COVID around.

Good Thursday morning to everyone on the Front Porch! Our weatherman tells us  we will have mild temperatures and little chance of snow until a week from  tomorrow. We are even deeper into hibernation here in Madison, Wisconsin with the threat of increased new cases of Covid-19 from those returning home after traveling for Thanksgiving celebrations.

Hoping everyone has a blessed day!  Please stays safe, stays well and be smarter about your actions when out and about.

    Hey there, Peeps,

A chilly but sunny start to the morning here in the burbs.

Today is the final step (hopefully)for my implant. Wahoo! I get my crown placed today.

Earlier this AM I got a text from the dentist's office to fill out my COVID form on my phone...weird. Couldn't do it because it asked for an "e-sign ID". No clue what that is, so guess I'll be checking off all the "no" boxes when I get to the office lobby. They keep giving me pens...I have quite a collection. LOL

Wondering if I'll be able to stop at Starbucks on the way home or whether I can't have hot/cold beverages right away. I'm really up for a peppermint mocha. 😻

HA, just got another text from the dentist saying they are looking forward to my visit...funny.

You all take care and stay home as much as possible.

Good morning again to everyone on the Front Porch! When I started following the posts here on the Front Porch in January of 2009 I was happy to find out that Political and Religious posts where not acceptable. The group monitors were able to delete the posts and ban the posters if they continued to posts these posts.  Over the years many things have changed as there are no monitors and the AARP staff are the only people the can delete posts and ban posters. I tried a couple political groups and dropped out after a few years.

We have been lucky that the Front Porch has remained basically politically free and a friendly place to come to on the internet!

Thank You all for your continued support of this friendly zone!

The group moderators still exist but, now send you a private message if you dare to use one of the George Carlin type forbidden words.

Emojis make it okay vs the printed word, I think or at least I haven’t received any nasty grams of late.😇

When in doubt it’s time for review of AARP terms of service.

Politics and religion, I get enough of that from other groups on other sites, or relations.

And on that note it’s time for an IV of caffeine. Had to work last night until 4:30 am when it was snowing. Awoke to mud and 49* again.

The magic question of the day — pandemic or not. When is it time to retire?

Or if I Promise to be good for the rest of year, can I please get 10-15” or more to stick around for more than a week.🤣

It’s Friday 28* and dark out and still wildly giddy for 10-15” of precipitation on Saturday. Tired of looking at snowblower in garage want to amuse neighbors with 40’ throwing range.

And hopefully lose the RV parked in my driveway before the snow. Found a 40 or 50 year old circuit breaker for it - NewOld Stock.

Or move it where no one will see it, learned my lesson a 10 year old in 1980 saw mine parked in driveway, and bought the same model 40 years later. Wish him luck with transmissions, hate Chevy vans with passion.

It’s happy snappy time, just enough light . Have a fun day let it snow🤣
