I cannot join without auto-renew
Hi,
I would like to join for one year without auto-renew. I do not want my credit card information saved or to have to cancel the membership in a year. I am comparing AARP to AMAC and so far AMAC allowed me to sign up without auto-renew or saving my credit card information.
Is there a link that you could provide that allows me to sign up for one year?
Thanks

I'm glad to hear you're interested in joining, RonaldD210827! Visit https://aarp.info/2IIvRoZ and click "Join Now" at the top of the page. You can select the 1-year term for $20.00 without automatic renewal from the terms options located at the bottom of the join page. Let me know if you have any other questions! - Brandon C.

Hey @RonaldD210827,
Call their membership number and speak to a customer service associate.
I joined AARP for the last 5 years for a total membership fee of $31.00 WITHOUT HAVING TO AUTO RENEW. I had them bill me and I paid by check.
I did the same thing for the upcoming 5 years although the membership fee this go-round was $45.00 for 5 years, but, again, WITHOUT HAVING TO AUTO-RENEW. Again, I had them bill me and I paid by check.
As you will note.... I didn't pay ADVERTISED PRICES either.... negotiate your membership fee.....I always negotiate membership fees, subscriptions, and the like.

[Sunday 3/16/25] And meanwhile @BtW751689 , did your check CLEAR your bank? My concern would be a stolen check.
Lisa @LisaS961881 and @nctarheel , how long does it take AARP to "process" your checks?

[Monday 3/17/25] Yes, I agree @BtW751689 !!! Seems like people are "chasing" after AARP to become members or renew membership. Soon people will "lose" interest. Maybe then AARP will "return" to CARING about people especially us OLD FOLKS. Take care, Nicole 👵

I don't remember but I do remember that it WAS NOT a problem.

I don't think they acknowledge receipt of checks. Most entities don't.
