What Were Some of the Most Enjoyable Stage Performances You’ve Seen?

As in Musicals, plays, lectures, operas, singers, etc…

 

     I’ve enjoyed Food Network’s, Alton Brown’s stage shows every year for a while.  He makes cooking and science fun!  Always interesting and amusing at the same time!

 

My favorite musical was CATS, which I saw many years ago.


I like supporting community theater as well, and our area has a wonderful one at decent prices for their productions.  I’ve seen several plays that I’ve enjoyed there.

      I love Alton Brown! I would love to see him live! I once took my mom to see Sunset Boulevard and Glen Close was playing the lead. I recently saw the Book of Mormon with my husband and my son. We have a recently restored theater here and I try to support it any chance I get.

        Hi, Alexis,

        If you ever get the chance to see him, do.  So much fun.  He always brings some sort of monstrous machine on stage, that with the participation of a few lucky people in the audience, they create some food dish.  One year he had a massive, and I mean massive, Easy Bake Oven on the stage.  Always a lot of fun. And there’s usually a beat the clock quality for the chosen audience members to participate in some sort of game he’s hatched up.

         

        Hadn’t seen The Book of Mormon, but I’ve heard some really good things about it.  Glad you can enjoy a restored theatre where you live.  That’s exactly what we have as well.  1920-ish or so.  Love seeing the restored architectural details!

          I definitely will! I’m going to see if I can find something on Google about when and where he’ll be soon. It sounds like an absolutely amazing experience. He makes everything about cooking so much fun. And I love the science aspects he brings to it as well. 
          I can’t remember when our theater was built but I’m thinking 20’s or 30’s. I’ll have to Google that too lol. The older I get the more I have to Google 😂

            This is going to date me (even 'though I always admit my age - now 71) but when I was maybe 9 or 10, Starlight Theater, KCMO, the beautiful Miss Ethel Merman starred in a wonderful play (I can't remember which, probably "Mame" or maybe of that genre)...

             

            Love of theater and musicals born!

                I have seen a few. The last being The Lion King. Very good. The problem is one, the cost and two the locations. We saw the Nutcracker at a local community college which was very good. Broadway is the best but cost and distance do pose a problem.

                        We just saw the Nutcracker at our Community Theater.  We see this almost every December, and it never grows old.

                          Loved The Lion King too!  And, of course, Cats.

                         I have to agree that the cost of Broadway tickets is staggering.  But then again, Fifa World Cup tickets are starting at over four thousand dollars.  Unbelievable!

                             I was lucky enough to have seen Amadeus on Broadway back in ‘81.  Ian McKellen was masterful, and Tim Curry (Mozart) and Jane Seymour (Constance) were sublime.  This single show got me hooked on theater.  Over the years I have attended some truly amazing performances - Broadway, Off Broadway and Community - and have never once been disappointed.

                        Oh wow!  What wonderful shows you’ve seen!  I don’t think anything can compare to seeing a performance live like that.  Nice!

                               I so agree about the cozy ambiance of community theater.  We also attend the productions of our local High School.  Not only is the cost minimal, but the energy is amazing.  Without fail, we can always spot many proud parents in the audience reacting as their child is performing, and it’s just heartwarming.
