FAQ: What is Cubis 2?

Cubis 2 is an underwater-themed match game where you slide cubes along a 3D board.

What is the goal of the game?

The goal of the game is to use all the tools at your disposable – regular cubes as well as special cubes, plus a healthy dose of strategy – to match enough cubes to hit your goal before the timer runs out.

When do I beat a level?
If you’ve reached your goal before the timer runs out, you beat the level and can move onto the next one.

Where do I see my goal and the timer?

On the left side of the screen, while playing, you’ll see a timer. Next to it is a number. Every time you match cubes, that many cubes will be removed from the number. Get the number to 0 before the timer runs out to beat the level!

How do I play?

To play Cubis 2, you will need to launch cubes onto the board. You can launch them from two of the four sides of the board. Move your mouse, if you’re using one, to the row or column you’d like to launch from, and you’ll see that row or column light up. Click or tap to launch. If the cube you launched stops while touching two or more other like-colored cubes, the group will be removed.

At the top of the screen you’ll see a queue, where your upcoming blocks will be shown. Plan ahead!

How much time do I get per level?

One minute, but some time is added when you make a match. The bigger the match, the more time added.

What kinds of cubes are there?

There are several kinds of cubes in Cubis 2, each with its own strategy attached. Here are some of the most common ones:

  • Normal Cubes – These make matches. They can slide under other cubes if they’re not blocked and can stack 3 high.
  • Wedges – These slide under other cubes, becoming normal cubes when placed.
  • Broken Cubes – These fragile cubes will be broken by normal cubes, which slide through them.
  • Star Cubes – Match these to earn multipliers, increasing your score for the entire level.
  • Dual Cubes – These bicolored cubes act as both colors when it comes to matches, giving you extra flexibility.

There are also special cubes:

  • Osmosis Cubes – These lit-up cubes change the color of the cube they hit into their color.
  • Lasers – These will destroy any one cube on the board, including…
  • Blockers – These cubes need to be destroyed, as they get in the way!
  • Bombs – These cubes destroy the bottom layer of cubes and obstacles with a 3x3 grid of where they land.

How many levels are there?

For Classic mode, that’s a secret. Arcade mode has 150 levels to play!

Is my progress saved?

In Classic mode, when you lose, you need to start all over from level one. In Arcade mode, your progress is saved across sessions.

Can I turn off the sound and music in Cubis 2?

No.
