AWFUL ads while trying to play games

I am so sick of the ridiculous ads that show while trying to play games. They are distracting and horrible when on the side of your screen; absolutely none of them would ever make me click on the link out of interest. People moving fast, putting down plants, walking around a rug that looks like a hole in the ground, what is that??? Now, in between almost ever game when attempting to start a new one, a woman in the kitchen cooking and dancing around and a man comes to the door with flowers, so she picks up her wet wipe package and starts cleaning under her arms before she goes to greet him.  Give us a break please.  I pay for AARP and don't choose to see this nonsense.  AT LEAST please cut down on them.  They are awful and some of the dumbest and insulting I've ever seen.  You are such a good site AARP, but wow, those ads have got to go.

What browser do you use? @KarenM694354

Your browser usually has a setting where you can enable the adblocker to help with that.  You can also disable pop ups.  Or you can get ad blocking software.

AARP, like all websites have ads.  It’s up to consumers to be proactive and learn what they can do to protect their devices as well as tweak settings you already have at your disposal within your own browser.  I hardly have any ads while using the AARP app.  But on my computer adblocking and pop ups are tools that have been addressed already.

While ads can be annoying, there are ways we can deal with them, thankfully.

Thanks Seagull, but I am being proactive, I complained here on the site, specifically so that they could see it.  Don't need tips like that as it makes sense to let sites know as well as using ad-blocker.

We hear you—those kinds of ads can definitely take away from the fun of playing, especially when they pop up so frequently or feel distracting. We appreciate you calling this out so clearly.

While ads help support the games experience, your feedback about placement, frequency, and overall quality is really important. It’s something our team continues to review, and comments like yours help push those conversations forward.

In the meantime, you might try playing in full-screen mode if available, which can sometimes reduce on-screen distractions.

Thanks again for sharing your thoughts—and for sticking with us. We’re glad you enjoy the site overall and want to keep improving the experience.

Boy, what a canned answer that is - the ads don't feel distracting, they ARE distracting!  The ones that are most distracting are the moving ones advertising clothing while I'm trying to play solitaire!

Enable adblocker and popup blocker tool in your browser’s settings, or get adblocking software for your devices, @TheresaB839306

i agree Karen and now we have to see the ad about visiting SLO over and over again.  Very annoying.

Here is what I have been doing to each and every moving ad.  I press Refresh (F5 on my keyboard) over and over again.  After several ads, I finally get one that does not move and I play the game.  I'm hoping that 15 refresh hits may mess up the ad procedure.  It works sometimes.  If they still continue, I just close the AARP tab.  I'm thinking of giving up my membership over this.  Think about it, AARP!
