You see employees at your grocery store stocking displays with fresh produce and replacing items on the shelves. But have you ever stopped to think about what goes on behind the scenes?
A supermarket is a business with a whole corporate team focused on one goal: getting you to spend money โ as much as possible. And grocery stores have some secrets, but they arenโt jumping at the chance to make them public.

Everything in a grocery store, and I guess all retail shops, is to get you to buy one more item. From the tie in's on the displays, the way the store is laid out, the position of items on shelf and the wording in the ad.
Kroger's ad is loaded with catchy wording. Buy 5 or 10 of several different items and get a $1 off each. Well mess up and only get 4 or 9 and see what happens. Somewhere in that space about an item with a great price is in smaller print, "with coupon,"
Plan your meals, make a list, and above all, stick with them. Also join your stores shopping club or what ever they call it, good way to get some extra saving.
Thanks for stopping by my friend Papaw @papawofboo !!! ๐
Yes, Kroger's & Food Lion luv to do the BULK quantity (buy 5 or more) which I guess is a blessing for LARGE families. But NOT for me. Lol, when I retired in 2020, one of my things to do was go through ALL my closets. Dug up items with PRICE TAGS still on them from my DOLLAR TREE "hand my paycheck" over to them every week. ๐ฑ Not doing that AGAIN. Now I ASK, am I going to USE THIS ITEM BEFORE I DIE?/lol ๐คฃ๐
My mother was a PACK RAT & I never want to put my only child through that.
And it also cuts down on WASTING my only source of income = my Retirement Social Security. ๐

Oh YES, impulse or forget WHY I was shopping use to be my downfall BEFORE retiring.
NOW with my Retirement Social Security being my ONLY source of income = I shop with a LIST & IGNORE the candy bars at checkout.
Now I do get VERY WEAK at Dollar Tree, so I TRY to "limit" my trips and time in store. Lol, my PAYCHECKS use to be "dedicated" to them.
Take care,
