Why doesn't AARP partner with company to give discounts on walk-in showers

Spent day looking though website and with Chatbot and found no partners that AARP has that would give a discount on walk-in showers.   I was disappointed with this.   I have three neighbors who are seniors and are also facing this dilemma.   One would think that nationwide this would be an issue AARP would like to address.  Due to medications, I fall and am in a wheelchair.   I am not low income but, at the same time, $6-10K to install is an issue.  Doctor hesitant to prescribe as doesn't believe Medicare and private insurance will pay.  Any ideas or assistance would be very much appreciated!

I don’t know about walk in showers and installation prices, but if there were a discount I think it might only be 10% if there would be one through AARP.  Labor for it, etc adds up.

.  Have you tried calling Lowe’s or Home Depot by any chance on this? They contract out on installations.  You pick out and gets installed.  If you have them near you maybe visiting the store and check.

Based on prices in today’s marketplace - labor, insurance, materials, permits, etc. - I don’t think that $ 6K- $10K is a bad price at all depending on what you want.  If there is already a tub there and plumbing does not have to be relocated, it may be on the lower side of your range.’  Design it based on your needs - the actual shower nozzle(s), a bath bench, anchored lift bars - heck, even an emergency call that meets your needs.

No doc is gonna prescribe something like this - this is not a medical necessity - it is an activities of daily living matter and those are not considered medical. Even disabled people have to have “things” that can make their lives better and./or easier for themselves or their caregivers - some things are covered because they aid in mobility but things that support activities of daily living like widening of doors, step or roll-in showers, ramps, are either covered out of pocket or perhaps from a charitable org.

IT‘S ALWAYS SOMETHING . . . . .. . . .
