Why are the Carnival Discounted Gift Cards no longer available? They were quite popular, so it makes no sense for Carnival or AARP to end this perk. Thank you for your time.
Corporate GREED has struck again! Carnival is destroying itself. All about profit! Increasing costs across the board. WiFi packages are insain. The quality & choices of food served have declined significantly over the 22+years that we have been cruising with them.
According to John Heald, Carnival social guy, it was AARP that dropped the discounted card. He said the discount (10%, then 8%, finally 5%) is from the distributor (AARP). Since non-discounted Carnival gift cards are still available at many different places (Publix, BJs), it makes sense that discounts were from the seller. New Egg electronics offers them at discounted price a couple times a year, so right now I think it's AARP that dropped the discounted cards.
Thanks for taking the time to reach out @KatonaW531976. Carnival Cruise Lines decided to discontinue offering their gift cards through the AARP Rewards Program. We understand that this may be disappointing news, and we apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. We remain committed to providing you with valuable rewards and appreciate your understanding. Please visit the Rewards Catalog to see the current AARP Rewards offers. Thank you. - Daniela R.
Hmmm interesting....Carnival's John Heald pointing the finger at AARP, AARP pointing the finger at Carnival. Yet other places that sell Carnival GCs at a discounted rate still offer them. Why would Carnival only discontinue on AARP but not other places? Something fishy going on here...
