No doubt this is a well intending question.

And heck if I know why I'm going to write what I am about to write, but here we go.

If you simply view the savings as a single entity, anyone who has won anything has saved money.

But you can't forget including the cost of your time into evaluating the cost effectiveness.  You don't just click a button and save the money.

You put time and effort into accumulating points, and if you think those points come smoothly and void of follow up and calling AARP to recoup missing points and the like on maybe more than occasion, then you're participating in a different rewards program than anyone reading this.

So if this thread winds up with someone saying they save x amount of dollars, give em some truth serum, and then ask how smoothly the process has treated them, how many times they have bid on things that wound up a waste of time because for whatever reason the prize was unavailable (I successfully bid on a Door Dash gift card that did not include a pin, so the transaction was voided as opposed to reissued after I put x amount of minutes into following up on it) and how frustrated they got when they experienced some of the wide open for display shortcomings of this program avail themselves.

The moral of the story is this program is still bottom line plus, but if you overestimate by how much, that's on you.

Exactly! I'm the one who has complained in many posts re delay in processing "wins"; perhaps that outsourced entity, "HelloWorld" hopes we'll pass before they have to pay up? Just sayin...

Our household has saved $1300 this year and I have saved $2100 to date! I am using the savings to invest in a personal investment portfolio for my grandkids that I manage myself. Having fun with AARP Rewards, saving $$$ and building a financial legacy. It's a win, win, win 👍

What a wonderful idea!

I also saved last year to a total of $582! It was a great help to use the gift cards for presents for my grandkids and food and treats for my many cats.

I saved $601, which, as a single person, is a lot, particularly because I always make sure I don’t  enter sweepstakes or buy gift cards unless it’s for a company/restaurant that I already frequent or a restaurant that has location in my city whose menu I like when I look it up online. I would have saved more but I am still working full time and I often don’t have time to accumulate the full 7500 points/day.

However, I agree with kb1248; there have been a lot of glitches recently. Like on 1/1 I badly wanted to get a gift card (I forget for what company) and I kept on trying to order it (I had enough points) and it wouldn’t let me. I thought it was a problem for everyone but then, much to my dismay, it eventually sold out. I had already earned my 7500 points for the day when I realized that, although it didn’t say so, it must have been available only if one had done the Extra Credit Rewards, which I had forgotten I needed to do because NOTHING on the site on 1/1 said it required Extra Credit Rewards to obtain (those Extra Credit Rewards gold triangles/stars didn’t show up at all until 1/2), and of course there was no-one in AARP Customer Service on New Year’s Day. Very disappointing.

Very little. Points deals are not available when I try to redeem them.
