I'm a sweeper who enters a lot of travel contests.  I've won several free trips all over the U.S. and always take my AARP card for additional discounts.  I am also a vet.  Imagine, a free trip along with AARP and Veteran discounts.  It's go time!

Great tips. I use my card for restaurants at times. I keep getting messages that my points are expiring and I need to use them, so I cannot get enough to even try for a gift card and as far as using the App during traveling that doesn't work. I have tried several times when I am traveling domestically and it never show me anything as far as deals or discounts of any kind. I have even tried to make purchases through the site and the third party tells me it cannot be accepted.

I am glad somebody is getting use out of their membership.

I'm saving money on cruise gift cards (which is a no-brainer), and I'm maxing-out on every travel-related gift card sweepstakes, because you can't win if you don't try!  And even when I'm local, there are so many discounts on food and events in-town, my AARP app is on the home screen on my iPhone, and I'm constantly checking it wherever I am!

I've found the AARP specific Expedia site has some really good prices on hotel while travleing.  Particularly when I'm on road trips and need a quick, safe, clean stopover with my dog.

I do my best to get all the points I can so I can enter the sweepstakes. I also use the tools on the website to price out any travel plans. The last trip, I rented a car through the website.

We used the AARP membership card to get a hotel deal, last month, and it ended up being the nicest hotel that we stayed at.  We will definitely look for more deals in the future!

I just redeemed points for a $50 Celebrity Cruise gift card! It sure helps with the high fares these days. Also, I love the instant win and redemptions for food and gas stations.

Good evening everyone  and I have some travel tips for you. AARP is how I travel. First decide on your destination.  Secondly  use the app to find deals on travel. Thirdly  get  a discount on your travel.  Me and my sweetheart Rhonda are going to England for a week. Travelocity has gave me the aarp discount for car, plane, and room with free parking and breakfast.  The free breakfast and parking will save me about 300 dollars.  Also make sure you use the checklist well in advance to save on the trip. This checklist will save you money every day.  Remember don't be cheap with money, but spend it wisely

 Happy trials.

I purchased a $500 gift card for AirB&B at a discount on the Rewards website. Unfortunately I am still waiting to receive it via email. It has been 4 days. Really??? I can see that my payment was processed so thatโ€™s not the issue. My trip is in 2 weeks and Iโ€™m watching the homes I picked getting booked up. I was willing to accept 24-48 hours for processing but this is unacceptable. I am experiencing needless stress before my vacation. Thanks a lot.

Holland America gave us a $200 onboard credit through AARP this summer. It was great!  I always book hotel rooms getting the AARP rate.

Use discounted gift cards, check online for tickets b/c sometimes they'll be discounted if you purchase ahead of time, and check for a city pass which may be available for the city you're visiting

Always check aarp for discounts, there are always new offers, gift cards, discounts happy to find all there is available. Travel can be frustrating but always an adventure, all the bumps in the road become the most memorable looking back not as bad.Best advice pack things to wear that mabye last wear and can be donated or tossed so you can have room in your bag for new finds, memories of your trip.

II always check for discounts and deals on hotels. Most of my travel these days involve the automobile so it's important to keep the car well maintained and use gas buddy to find the best gas prices.

We find the AARP discount at hotels makes our trips affordable. Places that offer AARP discounts are also places that are clean and offer healthy food, very important when one is on the road. Discount coupons offer savings that make a difference for retired people who like to travel.

I keep a supply of hotels.com and AirBNB gift certificates bought with the discount from AARP.   These have come in handy for many a family get-together.

I search hotel rates through several sites. I will only stay in an owner occupied Airbnb with high ratings, excellent comments and a host who takes time to communicate with me before booking. I travel solo and independently. An Airbnb hosts often gives me a friend and the best source of local information.

For car rentals I like AARP or Costco. I check airline rates on sky scanner and purchase directly from the airline. Never a third party for airline tickets. The ticket counter can not rebook you if your flight is cancelled. You must call the booking agency.

I look through the coupons and offers on a regular basis and have used both freebies and purchased discount offers to save a substantial amount over time.  I have even tried things I would not have if it were not for the special offer.
