AARP Rewards always provide very valuable discounts when exploring new as well as previous visited destinations. The discounts really add up.

We frequently use AARP discounts for hotels and car rentals along with various other travel related membership benefits.

For car rentals I like AARP or Costco. I check airline rates on sky scanner and purchase directly from the airline. Never a third party for airline tickets. The ticket counter can not rebook you if your flight is cancelled. You must call the booking agency. 

I search hotel rates through several sites. I will only stay in an owner occupied Airbnb with high ratings, excellent comments and a host who takes time to communicate with me before booking. I travel solo and independently. An Airbnb hosts often gives me a friend and the best source of local information. 

I keep a supply of hotels.com and AirBNB gift certificates bought with the discount from AARP.   These have come in handy for many a family get-together.

We find the AARP discount at hotels makes our trips affordable. Places that offer AARP discounts are also places that are clean and offer healthy food, very important when one is on the road. Discount coupons offer savings that make a difference for retired people who like to travel.
