We have been saving a lot of money, most of the time, cooking at home and moreover we are vegetarians. When we gather we will have a small potluck so that everybody can save some. Restrict traveling if not needed and plan for a long trip by taking road trips rather flying. It might not work for all

Stocking my mini fridge and desk drawer with lunch for the week has really saved me a lot of money that used to go on fast food.  At the same time, I am eating healthier.  Eating healthier has also helped me save on dinner for the family by cooking healthier meals instead of picking up fast food.  When I do go out, using the local discounts from AARP has helped cut back on expenses as well.

I read AARP health tips and I also load my digital coupons at the grocery stores I go to, usually at least two. I love veggies and fruits, so I try looking for coupons in these two categories.

I look for coupons that i can use at places that i go and discounts that i can get to save money. I also use the rewards i get for redemptions on gift cards so that i can save more on items that i am already using or going to buy. I also read the articles on saving money and incorporate a lot of those in my life.

I have gotten a lot of good ideas on how to save money from the articles. This past year, after reviewing some of the articles on finance, and budget, I have asked for senior discounts for places not necessarily directly listed - and gotten a number of them. I have reduced my expenses on several monthly and annual bills just for asking. I also have started looking for senior discounts above and beyond what AARP lists and found a number of places where I can save if I shop on the right days: The local Goodwill offers senior discounts on Wednesday, for example. The department store Ross for Less recently moved into my area. Their senior discount day is Tuesday - and seniors get 10% off their purchase. These - and the ones AARP does mention directly -  have added to what funds I keep in my own pocket.
