When can you get a letter verifying your benefits?

I will be eligible to collect in March of next year. If I apply for benefits in December, when will I be able to get a benefit verification letter? Would it likely not be available until the end of March (just before the initial disbursement) or would it show up online earlier than that?

Have you created a Social Security account?

Thanks for the reply, and yeah I've got access to my account and I know how to get a pdf. But not sure when it will show an 'official' amount. I imagine right after I apply the letter will change and say that I've applied, but I am trying to figure out when it will provide the amount.
