Good Morning To Everyone On The Front  Porch On This Cold Thursday Morning  December 17th, 2020!

 

As I'm sitting around our apartment on my cable I've seen some interesting things like beautiful creatures posted on the  internet! It could be a tropical bird, a majestic animal, a waterfall in a remote part of Africa,  a giant tree or the insect I've posted below.

 

I think that the Front Porch followers should be able to come up with several hundred photos by New Years Day! All you need to do is save the photo to your gallery and repost it here to this topic.

      The USCGC Eagle (WIX-327), originally named Horst Wessel and often referred to as the Barque Eagle, is a 295-foot (90 m) barque built in 1936. It serves as a training vessel for aspiring officers of the United States Coast Guard.

          Yes, multiple Wisconsin communities host annual Apple Festivals to celebrate the fall harvest, including prominent celebrations in Bayfield, Gays Mills, Two Rivers, and Deerfield, among others. These festivals often feature apple-themed foods, music, parades, and craft vendors, drawing visitors to various parts of the state. 
           
          Here are some examples of Apple Festivals in Wisconsin:
          • Located on the Bayfield Peninsula, this festival is a large event celebrating the local apple harvest with a parade, carnival, live music, and food vendors. 
             
          • Known as the "Apple Capital of Wisconsin," this festival in the Driftless Area features parades, carnivals, and numerous food and craft vendors. 
             
          • This festival celebrates the season with fresh apples, baked goods, live music, and an arts and crafts fair. 
             
          • Hosted by Bittersweet Blessings Farm, this event offers an apple pie contest, cider pressing demonstrations, and live entertainment. 
             
          • The Door County Historical Society hosts a festival in mid-to-late September with apple-themed activities, historical insights, and food. 
             
          These festivals highlight Wisconsin's significant apple production, with large clusters of orchards found in areas like Door County, Gays Mills, and the Bayfield Peninsula.

          News from my home town of Ripon, Wisconsin.

           

          We’re thrilled to announce that Ripon Public Library will be one of the 1,280 Carnegie Libraries receiving a $10,000 gift from the Carnegie Corporation of New York, NY.

          This gift honors the lasting legacy of Andrew Carnegie and the libraries he helped establish, as part of the Carnegie Corporation’s nationwide celebration of America’s 250th anniversary.

          While Ripon Public Library’s history begins in 1880, it was in 1902 that a $12,000 grant from Andrew Carnegie helped fund the construction of Ripon’s standalone public library building. That building still stands downtown today, now home to the Ripon Chamber of Commerce and Ripon Main Street, Inc.

          Though our library moved to our current location in 1972, we’re proud to continue our legacy as a Carnegie Library, and this generous gift will help us continue offering programs, services, and resources that enrich the community.

          This library was built in my home town of Ripon., Wisconsin.

            Did a lot of ice skating when the mill pond was frozen over in the winter time! This was when I was much younger and still living in Ripon, Wisconsin.
