I couldn't find a forum to initiate this topic so starting here. We in Nevada are seeing an uptick in wrong way traffic accidents, most resulting in tradegy. My neighbor and I chatted about this and wonder why the groups that study this have not recommended those wrong-way tire spikes (the ones that won't let you leave a parking garage without paying) aren't part of our infrastructure? I know there are some as I seem to remember driving over them somewhere (perhaps Oklahoma or Arizona). We know those have been around for years; why isn't this a regular part of all roadway construction? I am sure we're not the only area having this issue. It is heartbreaking to know families are being devastated by these preventable issues. Any Traffic Engineers who could address this, and how do we bring it to be standard practice? Thanks in advance!

Who is still out there? We seem to have come to a grinding halt! I noticed this morning that I am the last poster on most active topics. I know that with the start of the 2019 Hurricane season getting off with such a bang! With the continuation of so many world wide issues ranging health care to how to deal with asylum seekers. From issues like mass shootings to having our grandchildren vaccinated before they return school. All issues we on our Front Porch will never solve here. Hoping everyone is having a restful weekend and is getting ready for next week!

Remember when we were young and fearless and... yes, stupid, too?  Ran across the article on 19 Dangerous Things Kids Used To Do That Would Not Be OK Today. Boy, did that bring back memories! Miracle some of us survived, but that's not saying we escaped totally unscathed either.  I remember when little brother did the 'ride the handlebars' trick with a friend down the street (of course, no helmet or pads) and they wiped out.  Little brother ended up in the hospital with bashed head. Another time, same brother and I were doing a skateboard 'train' down a steep concrete sidewalk.  Back then, skateboards were nothing more than roller skate wheels attached to a board.  He was the caboose and he took me out.  This time, I ended up in the ER with screwed-up ankle.  Couldn't walk all summer.  To this day, I still have a lump in that ankle. Remember jacks and pick-up sticks?  We used to throw those pointy sticks at each other.  A

I have been living with the same man for 12 years. We used to be so in love but not anymore. We havent been intimate in 7 years after a terrible miscarriage. I want so badly for both of us to just move on but he has quit working and will be homless if i tell him to leave. I feel like i am stuck in this depressing life.  I dont know exactly how to end this for good and move on.  What do you think i should do?

Our happy family time !

When I was 5 years old, I would go to my friend Susie's stoop and we would play.  She lived in a 3 story building where all three floors were filled with her relatives. There were younger boys on the first floor that would also come out to play with us.  And two on the top floor.  Susie lived on the second floor.  As we got older the kids from the neighborhood seemed to be attracted to that stoop.  They would play baseball in the street and we would watch from that stoop.  Every day around 5:00 somewhere in the building, the mothers from the three floor and the grandmother that lived on the third floor would have cocktails.  During the nice weather, they would bring out chairs and have their drinks on the stoop.  What a great way to grow up.

This topic is not just for the ladies, but you guys as well! My dad was very sentimental. He loved Abraham Lincoln. Everytime he read from Carl Sandburg's The War Years, he would cry about something from it. He would read and reread that book many times. He would make notes in the margins about his thoughts of that particular chapter. However, I'm sentimental about momentos. I can't throw anything away. For instance, if I have a theatre program from a date with my husband, I saved it. I save all greeting cards and amusement park tickets, programs, etc., etc. It's really getting ridiculous. I'm at the time in my life where I need to downsize and organize!What about you?
