the holiday is coming fast. Maybe too fast but our ages kinda distort the clock. Are you all prepared?

Hi!  Yes, Came very fast.  Sort of doing a quasi attempt at greeting cards at the moment.  Got tree in water in the tree stand, soaking up as much at it can, if at all.  Decorating tomorrow.  Really more looking forward to it all being over, actually. Decorating tomorrow with music will help hopefully.

I am smiling because I feel much the same. I look forward to it, yet I want it to be over. Age I guess. Play the songs thru amazon. Look at the lights on the tree with all other lights off and remember all the Christmas past. I suppose at 77 I can love it, and hate it at the same time. Many years, many memories. Hear the voices, see the memories. Wish for the past but know that it wasn't as romantic or warm as I imagine it now. Never the less it makes me smile. Wish you a Happy Day with peace and comfort. It is a special day. Then we will be sad that it is over, yet relieved at the same time. Life is crazy.

I am sitting here savoring my coffee, and I find myself smiling and nodding at both of these posts.

I too turn off all the lights, and sit near the Christmas tree in all its glory.  I put on an old LP that I remember from my childhood, and I remember all those I can no longer touch - the sound of their laughter, the warmth of their embrace, the scent of the holiday feast cooking, and, for a fleeting moment, I am young again.

While there are so many empty chairs at the table now, those Christmas memories sustain me.  And, I will readily admit that, once the holiday exhilaration is past, I look forward to a snowy January day when I can simply sit back, relax and reflect.

…..wish you both a comforting day.  I find myself ridiculously happy because we were gifted with just enough snow to make it simply beautiful - maybe four inches - up here in NW NJ - but not enough to cause any issues on the roads.   …and tonight, everyone’s outdoor lights will look just like a Christmas card!

                                                             …..️

We look forward to it, yet we tread it. We reach for it yet glad when it is over. Crazy, right?  The best day during the season is Dec 26th. Sluggards day as I call it. No place to go, no appt's, no work. You can wear your pajama's all day. Yesterdays turkey and stuffing laid over to slices of sourdough toasted bread and then pour the left over gravy on. AAAAHHHHHHHHH!   Find an old Cary Grant movie to watch. Finish up with the last piece of Apple Pie. The 27th comes and it is all over.

Yes!  lol. Love that term Sluggard’s day.  But also too, right in there with Boxing Day!
