This song was so popular when it was released, it was credited for creating a baby boom in France. That surprised Scorpions writer, Klaus Meine, who said it was really a breakup song. It’s about a guy pining away for his lost lover!

I absolutely loved that song when it came out.. but the words are definitively not for a wedding:

The Fugs were a satirical underground rock band of the 1960's out of New York City.

Gained some national fame for a couple of their satirical songs, this being one of them.

White Wedding - Billy Idol

His once girlfriend that he still loves is marrying someone else, yet this song still has been played at a lot of weddings. The song refers to shotgun, so possibly a shotgun wedding! That would make the term “white wedding” seem facetious or disingenuous. So no, not for weddings.
