WHAT ARE YOU LISTENING TO?

Smith & Myers -

YouTube Channel - https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCqFqX3L-nXomAjpw0-8f_fQ

Brent Smith and Zach Myers (both from Shinedown). (Always liked Brent's voice in Shinedown and "Not Strong Enough" he did with Apocalyptica)

They formed Smith & Myers doing mostly covers and mostly acoustic.

"Unchained Melody" - cover of the Righteous Brothers song - They were nervous about covering such an iconic song. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1IO1qU3ElDM

"In the Air Tonight" - cover of the Phil Collins song - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hHNHFpF_ZOg

"Bad at Love" - this was a Halsey song but they rewrote the lyrics and has a nice video.

The album -  Frampton Forgets the Words by Peter Frampton Band

Frampton was diagnosed with Inclusion Body Myositis in 2019. This songs on this album are instrumental. He wanted to do some of his favorite pieces from collaboration memories and tribute/covers to other's works. He said he didn't want to sing on these because his guitar has a better voice.

All are great. The "Isn't it a Pity" original George Harrison was beautiful. The video showed some clips from Frampton during covid lockdown.

"Loving the Alien" - original by David Bowie whom he worked with a lot was a remarkable rendition, video with clips from their days together.

Frampton did quite a bit of things after his diagnosis knowing that his body would be letting him down.

John Field Piano Concerto in C.   if you love Chopin then you owe ot to yourself to give a listen to John Field.  Chopin was a great admirer of Field and built many of his ideas on Field.  He perfected what John Field began.

I’m so excited, Pointer Sisters

RIP Anita Pointer 🎼💜

Bella Ciao - d’Artagnan

https://youtu.be/LgEHBA6nEqU

This is an Italian folk song being sung by a German band with a French name which was recently popularized by a Spanish tv show (Money Heist, Netflix). This version is sung in German, but they also do Italian and English. The title is literally Beautiful Goodbye. While the melody is probably 19th century, the lyrics were written and sung by Italian partisans during the Nazi occupation of Northern Italy. It is about a fight for liberty to the death.

Music is truly the universal language!

Greek Fire

"If This Is The End (The Sound of Belief)" - Their drummer, Johnny Venus, was diagnosed with leukemia in 2012. This is a touching song about the emotions and the hopes of those fighting cancer. Moon (Philip Sneed) has a great voice.
