While nothing compares to the music of the 60s and 70s, I occasionally find new music of the present day that really is refreshing. Two such examples would be these recently released albums...

Turquoise ... Devon Allman (son of Gregg) Great blues rock

The Lone Bellow .... The Lone Bellow  (great harmony by this trio)

Today is Carol King's birthday, so thought I would check her out on youtube. Knowing she made a living writing in the Brill Bldg. (the boomers tin pan alley) before becoming a folk diva, I thought I would check that stuff out.  Of course first choice was locomotion.  What a discovery.  I can't believe it but it is true Carol King definitely produced one of the greatest rock performances I have ever seen.  Check it out.  Oh by the way, Sting is on the side.  Yes, Carol King and Sting together.
