He actually loved her enough to let her go and hope that she somehow found what she was looking for. He didn't lament what he had lost,but more celebrated what he had enjoyed with her and the enrichment she had brought to his life. Proof of sorts that,if we keep our eyes and hearts open,that we can be sad but happy for the same reasons. Great song..
