I looked this topic up and the thread was closed to replies. I thought to reinstate the thread and might have a chance for posting on a new thread with this new board.

Any song about being old, getting old or youth is wasted (lol). Have fun!

A Hazy Shade Of Winter - Simon & Garfunkel

When this song came out in my youth, I didn’t think the lyrics were about getting older. As I got older, I do believe it can be interpreted that way.

As I’ve gotten older, I notice I pay more attention to song lyrics, whereas in youth, not so much.  Maybe quality coming out of radio or record/tape wasn’t as clear as sound quality now, idk, but wished I had paid closer attention to some of them years ago…instead of the beat or the mood.

I agree. Lyrics mean much more today. So many things mean more today than in our youth.

Darling Be Home Soon: Spoonful  (And now a quarter of my life is almost past/I think I’ve come to see myself at last/And I see that the time spent confused/Was the time that I spent without you)   As he gets older he’s becoming more mature, more self-reflective; a healthy side of the growing older process.

I don’t know much of his Catalog, without using AI, but seems Willie Nelson would have something,

SONG - “I Don’t Need Your Rockin’ Chair” by George Jones.

This Grammy-nominated country tune from 1992 was the Possum at his spunkiest. He declared that his body was old but ain’t impaired … so you can keep that rockin’ chair. You can also keep your Geritol, Medicare, and forget about retirement.

Of course, you can only hide from old age and the Grim Reaper for so long. Death eventually caught up with ole’ George in 2013; the legendary country star died at the age of 81.

Sad song about the loneliness of aging and memories.
