For many an original song that they love cannot and will not ever be duplicated by a cover, but there are many songs that have been done equally (debatebly) well by others..

So do you have favorites?

What are your favorite covers of favorite songs?

"Queridita Mia" ♥ Keith Colleys 63'  interpretation of a Spanish version of "Little Darlin".

Little Darlin written by Maurice Williams and first released in 57' by his group the Gladiolas which later became the Zodiacs, it was a regional R & B hit. A month later the Diamonds from Canada released the more well known version hitting  #2 on Billboard.

    👋🏻

I never knew about this song being a cover, although I've loved this song when I heard it in the movie, 'X.' Chelsea Wolfe did an amazing job. [chills]

What an amazing transformation! The cover in the movie is so hauntingly beautiful.

Forever Young - Pretenders (Dylan cover)

This is my favorite Dylan song, and Chrissie Hynde’s cover is my favorite version. Her vocals are so beautiful and touching.

For a country twist, I like this one by Blake Shelton.

I don't know if this is the same song or not, but it sounds very very close. But, this is my favorite version.

They are two different songs. Rod Stewart wrote his song with his band about his own children. (Dylan’s song was written for his son).

However, the structure of the lyrics was so similar to Dylan’s song that it was agreed to give Dylan a share of the songwriting credit and royalties from Stewart’s song. Both are great songs. I like the Stewart song, too. 😎

    "Young £ove"  👩‍❤️‍👨  Sonny James {56}

A #1 country pop crossover hit.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2XadB_wm3ig&ab_channel=RichardCuster

One year later, teen idol Tab Hunter's pop cover also hit #1

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r4DmuIo9jJw&ab_channel=JanAddeo

Written and recorded by Ric Cartey and Carole Joyner in 1956 and Ric and his group The Jive Tunes, it never charted. And I like the raw original version cause it has that sound & feel of real sincerity.

This is an old German folk song. No idea what the origin/original is. But, here's an older version and a more recent version.

Day Pub Singers; Der Frohliche Wandersmann https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IBVrEG185cE

Bill Staines; The Happy Wanderer https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ShmrIlBL8Yw

“The Happy Wanderer” (“Der fröhliche Wanderer” or “Mein Vater war ein Wandersmann”) is a popular song. The original text was written (in German of course) by Florenz Friedrich Sigismund (1791–1877). It was made famous by the Obernkirchen Children's Choir, in Germany named Schaumburger Märchensänger.

Deleted - the song I posted was not the cover, but the original, so I’ve moved it to What Are You Listening To.
