Walmart+ Passthrough doesn't work

I'm at my wits end on this. I followed the AARP link to get the Walmart+ discount. I tried with an existing account and a new account. I tried 7 times on 3 different browsers and 3 different payment options. 

 

Each time, Walmart processed the payment and then a dialog came up saying my account can't be created right now. The charge hit my credit card and was immediately reversed.

 

My account info between AARP and Walmart match.

 

My credit card company thought I was a victim of fraud.

 

I'm super frustrated with both AARP and Walmart for this. I would like to get a discount but my time has value. I shouldn't have to spend hours trying to get a $40 annual discount.

 

Please don't just post the link and tell me to use it.

 

I don't recall ever having Walmart+ before and as I said, I tried once with a brand new Walmart account. Same result.

 

Will Walmart apply the discount if I call?

    Don’t know what is going on - yes, it is a specific benefit for a specific Walmart membership and done specifically when it says - 

     

    Walmart + is a higher benefit level than the regular Walmart membership but you have to have a regular membership to get the Walmart + membership.

    The Walmart + membership is $ 98 a year and you have to have this level of membership before the AARP $ 40 discount comes off - either at renewal or when created.

    The AARP page says: "sign into an existing Walmart+ account or create a new account."

     

    I do not have a Walmart+ account. I have a Walmart account. Now I have a canceled Walmart account and a newly created Walmart account.

     

    I do not have Walmart+ but the AARP page says I don't need to have one.

     

    Is it not a benefit that can be applied from the start? I have to pay for a Walmart+ account at $98/year and then apply for the benefit at the start of year 2?

     

    If so, that is definitely not how the AARP page is worded.

    So sorry that you are having this problem - 

    1.  you have to have a Walmart,com account to get a Walmart + account.

    2.  the $ 40 off is ONLY valid on a Walmart +  account  - normally $98 a year less the discount is $58 a year as long as you maintain both your AARP membership and the Walmart+ account.

     

    3.  YES - you have to apply the $ 40 at renewal of your WALMART + membership.  You pay full price the 1st year for Walmart +

     

    So YES, it is not really a $ 40 discount off the Walmart  + account - it is a savings of about $ 20 a year off the $ 98 membership for the Walmart + cost if carried out for at least a couple of years - more Walmart + savings the longer you carry out both memberships - AARP and Walmart +

     

    Walmart + 

    • Year 1 - no savings - pay $ 98
    • Year 2 - $ 58 - $ 40 applied to Walmart + membership - a savings of $ 20 since the (2) years actually average out to $ 78 a year
    • Year 3 - $98(year 1)  + $ 58 (year 2) + $ 58 (year 3) = $ 214 divided by 3 = $ 71.33 per yr for Walmart + membership 
    • Year 4 - $98(year 1)  + $ 58 (year 2) + $ 58 (year 3) + $58 (year 4) = $ 272 divided by 4 = $ 68.00 per year for Walmart + account

     

    This continues on this way for subsequent years as long as you keep your AARP membership active and you want the Walmart + membership - validating each in the year at renewal. (Well until the membership goes up - there is probably a disclaimer for this too).

    Here is how I obtained the discount and then my daughter did...

     

    Until the renewal day of Walmart+ account don't  try then on the renewal day, click the AARP discount link and it should work.

     

    Yes, some may find it convoluted but it is everything stated legally...
