The jar of honey, amber, rich, and deep,
A cunning notion I resolved to keep.
To catch the flies that danced in sunlit air,
And banish them from my small kitchen square.

I spread a layer, sticky, sweet, and vast,
A golden welcome that I hoped would last.
Imagined them, ensnared in sugary plight,
Their buzzing silenced by the morning light.

But hours drifted, shadows grew and crept,
Upon the honey, not one insect stepped.
The flies still buzzed, with insolent delight,
Ignoring wholly my strategic might.

The sweet trap failed, a lesson learned that day,
My plan did not work; they simply flew away.

So there they were, a feline crew,

One tiny terror, quick and spry,
One lazy king, who loved to lie,
One giant queen, with regal air,
A hilarious, chaotic pair.
They'd chase each other, tumble, leap,
Then curl up in a furry heap.
And though they drove their humans mad,
Their antics truly weren't so bad,
For every day, a joyful sight,
Three black cats, filled with purr and might!
